Man Dies On Beach A Hoidcn Beach visitor was found dead on the beach strand last Thursday morning, apparently the victim of a heart attack, reported Police Chief Haymond Simpson. W.E. Austin, of 4323 Fredricks Ave., Memphis, Tenn., was found dead lying on the beach near 807 Ocean Boulevard West, Simpson said. Anne Marie Roberts, of 4760 Woodland Drive, Wilmington, 111., found Austin, Simpson said. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. Austin, who was in his 60s, had been lying in the sand only a few minutes before Ms. Hobcrts found him, Simpson said. According to Simpson, the victim had a histnrv of heart eomnliealinns He had been attending a family reunion on the beach. The Coastline Volunteer Rescue Squad responded and traasported Aastin to the Bruaswick Hospital in Supply, where Bruaswick County Coroner Tommy Gilbert pronounced him dead. Newton, a realtor, was in the trucking business in Charlotte for 20 years before relocating to Brunswick County. At Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church he was an elder and adult Sunday School teacher. He and his wife, Carolyn, led a Bible study in their home and offered lay counseling as well. JOSEPH LEWIS Joseph (Joe) Lewis, 78, of l-ong Beach, died June 25 in Dosher Memorial Hospital, Southport, following a brief illness. Lewis was born in Beaufort, N.C., on Jan. 1, 1907, the son of the late Thomas K. and !,aura Roberts I,ewis.
