JES.CE T RROWN Jesse T. Brown, 82, of Route 1, Crecdmoore, and formerly of Supply, died Saturday at his home. The funeral was held Tuesday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, with Rev. E.J. Scarborough and Rev. Cecil Carter officiating. Burial was in the Georgetown Cemetery, with Masonic rites afforded by Shallotte lodge No. 727, A.K. & A.M. A retired tugboat captain, Brown was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and of the Shallotte Masonic lodge and the Wilmington Scottish Rites body. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen M Brown of the home; a son, Thomas J. Brown of Supply; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy B. Todd of Supply; two sisters, Mrs. Elnida B. Bowens and Mrs. Ella B. Mrs. Scaggs was a member of the Church of the Community and was a former resident of Kentucky. The funeral was held Tuesday at Masonboro Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Born in Wilmington on July 2,1916, he was the son of the late James Riley and Mary Burris Pettet. He worked for East Carolina Transport Co. and had served with the Conscr vation Corps during World War II and as a member of the National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Faye Iangston Pettet of the home; two sons, Elmer Riley Pettet Jr. and Michael Wayne Pettet, both of Wilmington; five daughters, Mrs. Tom Brown. RAMSEY Margaret Elizabeth Ramsey, 87, of Grotgen Nursing Home, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, in Cape Fear Memorial Hospital. The funeral was held Friday in the Coble Ward-Smith Oleander Chapel, with burial in Grcenlawn Memorial Park. Born m Wilmington on Feb. 4,1898, she was the daughter of the late Joshua and Harriett f'ummings Jarrcll. Survivors include four sons, Elmer F. Ramsey of Iceland, George T. Ramsey of Burgaw, and Samuel V. Ramsey and Roger C. Ramsey, both of Wilmington; a sister, Carrie Ramsey of Triangle, Va.; 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Entertainment Equipment Stolen Shallotte police are investigating a breaking and entering and larceny at Blake's Kent To Own on Main Street, Shallottc, in which entertainment equipment valued at $18,381 was stolen. Blake's employee Johnny Grubb told Officer Eddie KeynoUls that he discovered the loss Friday, Aug. 9, at about 9 a.m. A lock and hasp on the rear door of the store had been broken. The door was last known secured at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Taken were three video cassette recorders, a 19-inch color television, a Fisher stereo system, un AM/FM cassette auto stereo system, a set ol auto stereo speakers, two AM/FM portable cassette players (boom boxes! and VMS tapes.
