Ken Buckner of Shallotte received
the best-in-show award in the
Brunswick County Judged Art Show
Tuesday evening.
He received a $100 prize for his
watercolor, "Onions," at an awards
ceremony held at Franklin Square
Gallery in Southport.
Carolee McCaulcy, a Wilmington
artist, judged the entries.
'Ihe works in the show will be on
public display at Franklin Square
Gallery until Nov. 2. Gallery hours
are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through
Saturday.
Three artists were presented with
$25 awards: Shirley Little of Caswell
Beach. Donna Bean of Southport, and
Aotrud Tyler of I zing Beach.
Honorable mentions were

Museum Slides
A slide show on the Washington.
D.C., museum operated by the National
Society of the Daughters of the
American Revolution highlighted the
Sept. 19 meeting of the William
Clause Chapter of the DAK.
The group met in the board room of
Brunswick Technical t'olleoe at Sun.

Robert Hudgins IV of Charlotte, I
honorary state regent for the DAK.
She used slides to illustrate the
various period rooms of the organization's
National Museum. Of particular
importance to local members
was the North Carolina room Its
walls are decorated with 19th century
French handpainted Zubcr
wallpaper titled "The Hunt." Within
the room are a mahogany dining
table and chairs, circa 1805-1810, in
the style of Duncan I'hyfe, and a Hepplewhite
style sideboard with satinwood
and honeysuckle inlay, circa
1780-1790.
Eleven members and two visitors
uttended the meeting, as well as the
director and secretary-treasurer for
District IX.
