n +k l-'CU 11 I i.ahi am) "HdNEV" YARNAM Wesley Garland "Honey" Varnam. 69. longtime owner of Garland's Seafood Co. in Varnumtown, died Thursday, Dec. 12, in New Hanover Memorial Hospital in Wilmington following an extended illness. A graveside service was held Saturday in the Dixon Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Maurice 1-ancaster and Rev. Weston Varnum officiating. Varnam. known as "Honey" by his friends, was born in Brunswick County on Oct. 22,1916. the son of the late Wesley B. and Dora C. Dixon Varnam. Prior to his retirement in 1984 he owned and operated Garland's Seafood Co. in Varnumtown. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Holden Varnam of the home: three sons, Ronald Varnam, Donald Varnam and Nicky Varnam. all of Supply: a daughter. Mrs. Barbara V. Brown of Bolivia; two brothers, Durbin Varnam and Hubert Varnam. both of Supply: two sisters, Mrs. Ethel V. Dec. 11. in the Soldier Bay Baptist Church with Rev. David Adams officiating. Burial was in the M.C. Coleman Cemetery. Smith was born in Brunswick County on Jan. 25. 1912. and was the son of the late Ellis Gaston and Emma Jane Stanley Smith. He was a member of the Soldier Bay Baptist Church Survivors include a son.
