wedding vows Saturday, Nov. 23 in
White' Plains United Methodist
Church in Cary.
The Reverend R. Keith Glover officiated
and Dr. John K. Bergland
assisted at the double-ring
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs.
Benjamin Carl (Granny) Clayton of
Garner and I.ong Beach and the late
Mr. Clayton. The groom is the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. William Gatson
Allen of Raleigh.
Escorted to the altar by her
brothers, Jay Lewis Clayton of
Garner and Robert O'Neal Clayton
Sr., formerly of Yaupon Beach and
now of Wilmington, the bride wore a
tea length sheath of buttercup yellowsatin
with a hip-length, bell-sleeved
ivory lace overlay. Instead of a veil,
the bride wore a halo of baby's

The wedding ring she received is
the same one given to the groom's
paternal grandmother by her husband
at their wedding .lan. 29, 1885.
Jerrie Clayton of Garner, the
bride's cousin, was maid of honor.
1'he bride's niece, Mandy Louise
Clayton of Wilmington, served as
bridesmaid. Elizabeth Yarborough,
the groom's cousin, was the flower
girl.
Henry Sneed of Raleigh, friend of
the couple, was best man and Charles
Hill Yarborough, Jr., the groom's
cousin, was the attending usher.
Charles Hill Yarborough 111, also
cousin of the groom, was the ring
bearer.
Other ushers were the bride's
escorting brothers, Robert O'Neal
Clayton Jr., the bride's nephew;
Harry Burns, J.W. Meivin, and J.D
Tucker, cousins of the bride; and
Nick Covey, friend of the couple. The
ushers' bouttonaires were fashioned
by the bride from her wedding dress
material.
William Benjamin Clayton, the

sister-in-law; Mrs. Wiida Tucker, tin

County news reporter.
After a two-week honeymoon at
Myrtle Beach, SC and 1-ong Beach,
the couple will make their home in
Kaleigh
