Bow ling is the daughter of Mrs. Vera Bowling of Bolivia. Her talent performance was a piano rendition. Kight-yoar-old Shauna, a jazz dancer. Is the daughter of Mr. and Mi s. First runner-up for Miss Brunswick County was Jennifer Kve of Supply, and second runner-up was Angela Crawford, daughter of Mr. aim mrs. /\.v. i rawtoru .ir. 01 ixean Isle Beach. Anna Varnum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cortland Varnam of Varnaintown was named Miss Congeniality. Two granddaughters of Udell Williamson were runners-up to I.ittle Miss Brunswick County. Six-year-old Heather Williamson, daughter of Jan and DcCarol Williamson of Ocean Isle Beach was first runner-up, while Kcndra Bullington, 7, daughter of L'iDane and Bill Bullington of Ocean Isle Beach, was second runner-up. All performed as singers, dancers or pianists, and displayed their charms in swiimvcar and evening gown or party dresses. Bowling gasped with disbelief when Brown called out her name as the new Miss Brunswick County, but it was second runner-up Crawford whose tears of joy flowed, even after the program concluded. Awards to Miss Brunswick County include a $500 Kuuiia Ttlyrick Hose Scholarship, a trophy, diamond ring, travel allowance, and a $050 allowance for swimsuit and gown in the forthcoming Miss North Carolina Pageant. The first runner-up receives a $"250 scholarship and a trophy, while the second runner-up gets a $100 scholarship and trophy. Susan Holth. Miss Brunswick County 11*80, and Nancy Smith, l.ittle Miss Brunswick County 1980. There were also dance performances by Junior Miss Brunswick County 198fi. Marnie Williamson, and Miss Brunswick Technical College. April Sullivan. Miss Trojani, Karen Pittrnan. sang despite a bout with laryngitis. In her farewell talk, llolth spoke of traveling 6.000 miles during the past year. "Being Muss Brunswick County is a full-time job, seven days a week." she said. "Your Saturday nights are filled, and wherever you go, whether it's the grocery store or a pageant, you are Miss Brunswick County." She advised aspirants to that title to consider the serious responsibilities involved. "I think Miss Brunswick County needs to bo a business person and not just look pretty. I went to county commissioners' meetings and think those representing the county should do that." The pageant is sponsored by a nonprofit organization headed by David Clegg, who also serves as manager for Miss Brunswick t'mintv riurinu her reign. ife.
