Schefflnl Elected ToTGurism Post
Anne Marie SchetUnl, executive
director of the South Brunswick
Islands Chamber of Commerce was
recently elected vice president of
North Carolina Coast Host
She will represent the southern
region of tlic coast on the board of
directors of the group, an alliance of
coastal attractions, chambers of
commerce and properties that pro
motes and develops coastal travel
and tourism.
Schcttini also attended the first
Conference on Coastal Tourism,
sponsored by the University of North
Carolina Small Business and
Technology Development Center.
Completed Seminar
Gwen C. Causey of Supply, a fifth-
grade teacher at Shallotte Middle
School, participated In an April 7-12
seminar on “Reading, Writing and
Thinking" at the North Carolina
Center for the Advancement of
Teaching, at Western Carolina
University.
Instructors included Jan Davidson,
curator of the Appalachian Heritage
Center at WCU and the first Visiting
Artist hosted by Brunswick
Technical (k>llege.
Airman Graduates
Airman Douglas B. Robertson has
graduated from the U.S. Air Force
course for space control and warning
systems operations at Keesler Air
Force Base, Miss.
The 1985 West Brunswick High
School graduate Is the .son of Samuel
J. Robertson of Fayetteville and
Rebecca R. Robertson of Holden
Beach.
In Chorale
Sonya Williams, a freshman at
Gardner-Webb College at Boiling
Springs, is a member of the college’s
36-member chorale.

The ride, which will follow a three-
mile course through Brierwood
Estates, is sponsored by the Shallotte
Junior Woman's Club.

Modeling were Helen Bangs, Helen
Conrad, Nearle Einstein, Doris Hoik,
Sammie Nunn and Ann Soles,
assisted by Marge Harper. Conrad
also narrated.
The show was coordinated by An

Ladies Auxiliary, will be held Satur
day, June 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at
the fire station near Holden Beach.
In the Future Little Miss contest,
entrants must be one to three years
of age. The Little Miss contest is open
to girls four to 10 years of age. All en
trants must live within the Tri-Beach
service district
Parents who wish to enter their
child can do so at the fire station May
7 or 21, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and May
24, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
