PTO Meeting Focuses On Arts Dance, music and the visual arts take the stage next Tuesday at the final PTO program of the school year at Shallotte Middle School. The 7 p.m. meeting will feature a recreational dance demonstration by the physical education department as well as a 30-mlnute musical, “Hooray for Hollywood" by the choral and drama departments, featuring seventh and eighth grade drama students directed by Wallace Dunn. Donna McLamb’s eighth grade grade chorus students will sing and dance to some of the most memorable music in movie-making history, according to a release. Kay Coleman has served as special coor dinator for the musical, Also at the meeting, advanced seventh and eighth grade art students will display their art work for the public and parents and art awards will be presented. The school held its annual Induc tion ceremony in the gym followed by a reception in the library for the students and their parents. The National Jtmior Honor Society is recognized as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organiza tions to honor secondary school stu dent achievements. Members are selected by a faculty council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. “National Junior Honor Society members are expected to continue their exemplary contributions to the school and community,” said Janice Gore, Shallotte Middle School's NHS chapter adviser.
