A i Bent Tree Plantation near Ocean Isle was the setting of the 2 p.m. poolside wedding on May 31 of Crystal Dawn Harrelson of Sunset Beach and Jack Kyle White of Shallottc. The bride Is the daughter of A.W. Harrelson of Tabor aty and Nell Kinlaw Barnes of Lumberton and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Spivey of Sunset Beach and Mr. and Mrs. D.G. Kinlaw of Lumberton. Rev. Stan Smith of ShaUotte of ficiated the double-ring ceremony. Music was provided by Rodney Williams of Sunset Beach and GIgl Gore of Shallotte, who also directed the wedding. The groom is the son of Mrs. Bob bie Qalre White of Sunset Beach and grandson of Mrs. Madgeline Bennett of Bonaparte’s Retreat, Sunset Beach. Given in marriage by her brother, Billy Harrelson of Sunset Beach, the bride wore a formal gown of white sUk organza, with a fitted organdy Couple Wed At Bent Tree Plantation THE BRUNSWICK BEACON, Thursday, June 11, 1987-Page 7-A bodice Inset with sheer illusion and embroidered with seed pearls and se quins and short ruffled sleeves. Her two-Uered waltz-length veil of im ported English Illusion had scalloped edges and was heldby a band ac cented with a crescent-shaped spray of pearls. She carried a cascading bouqct of Jack Frost roses, dendrobium or chids, agapanthus blossoms and peach Lady D1 roses accented with English needlepoint ivy. Her sister, Teresa Ann Gore of Ocean Isle Beach, served as matron of honor. A niece, Stephanie Ann Gore, was flower girl. Both wore tea- length coral dresses in cotton batiste edged with embroidered eyelet lace, with sweetheart necklines, princess styling, ruffled sleeves and full- gathered skirts. They carried European-style freeform bouquets of apple blossom gerbera daisies, (^een Anne’s lace, apricot Enchant ment lilies, agapanthus blossoms and English needlepoint ivy. Immediately following the ceremony, the bride’s mother hosted a reception in the Bent Tree Planta tion Clubhouse. Selonla Alton of Key West, Fla., .served punch by the pool, while Karen Barnes served punch at the reception. Valerie Taylor attended the register. Martha Bullard and Lin da Scoggins of Lumberton served cake. Later, the newyiweds entertained wedding attendants and special friends with an after-reception cocktail party. The groom’s mother was hostess for a cocktail party buffet rehearsal dinner at Creek House Restaurant, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. Special guests included Mr. and Mrs. Bob HoUeman of Columbia, S.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Culbreth of Sunset Beach. Following a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the newlyweds are mak ing their home at Shallotte Point. The bride is a 1981 graduate of Whiteville High School and a 1984 graduate of Brunswick Technical College. The groom is a 1974 graduate of West Brunswick Hiah School. Parties Held The two were honored with several parties preceding the wedding, in cluding a formal dinner party given by Chip and Ava Marce. White was given a bachelor’s paity pig picking at the Brierwood Estates Club House, with David Ward, Bill Salmon, Billy Culbreth and Scott Taylor as hosts. The bride-elect was given a lingerie shower on April 30 at a weekend party at Ocean Cove Pen thouse given by Elizabeth PoweU, Johnna McCumbee, Ava Maree, Charlotte McCumbee and Valerie Taylor. A special guest was Nell K. Barnes of Lumberton. Also, on May 24, a miscellanous shower was given by Becky Owens and Teresa Gore at the Sunset Beach home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Spivey, grandparents of the bride. Wescott Crowned Miss N.C. Fourth Of July The 1987 North Carolina Fourth of July Festival began its month-long celebration Saturday night with the queen’s pageant held at Fort Caswell. Jennifer Wescott, 22, of Bolivia, was crowned the 1987 Miss N.c! Fourth Of July. Wescott, who was also chosen as Miss Congeniality, will represent the festival in a series of events that lead up to the July 4 celebration and parade held in Southport, and throughout the coming year. HoUy Walcott, 20, of Southport, was named first runner-up. Taking se cond runner-up honors was Susan Wilson, 18, of I^ng Beach. Eleven contestants competed for the UUe and the |1,000 scholarship award. Wescott was crowned by the 1986 queen, Dayna Ramsey of Holden Beach. Wescott is a graduate of South Brunswick High School and now at tends UNC-Wilmington. Walcott has attended the University of Houston with plans to enroll at UNC-W. Wilson is a senior at South Brunswick ' High School. Shell Club Meets June 16 The Beachcomber Shell Study Group will meet Tuesday, June 16, at 2 p.m., at the home of Gloria Barrett on Holden Beach. Elks To Meet Calabash Elks Auxiliary 2679 will hold its regular meeting Wednesday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Tavem- On-The-Tee, Sea Trail Golf Links, Sunset Beach. Meetings are open to auxiliary members and auxiliary members from other Elk lodges. New members may join by paying dues and initiation fees at the meeting. The Calabash Elks Auxiliary meet every third Wednesday of the month; Diane Carlson is the president. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. Other contestants were Amanda Holland, a junior at South Brunswick High School; Jennifer Kye, 21, of Supply; Gina Canady, 16, of Southport; Laura Rivenbark, of Bolivia, a senior at South Brunswick High School; Chandee Vamam, 18, of Supply; Andria Trott, 20, of Southport; Lisa Caster, 19, of Southport; and Lisa Phipps, 17, of Long Beach. Bill Thompson, a native of Colum bus County, was master of ceremonies for the pageant, now in its 20th year. Thompson was former ly co-host of the “Carolina In The Morning’’ program on WE(7T-TV 6 in Wilmington. Entertainment included a vocal performance by the reigning Little Miss Fourth of July, Amanda Causey of Sea-.Airs Estates, who will keep her title for a second year. Saturday’s contestants competed in swimsuit and evening gown. The program was held at Hatch Auditorium on the grounds of the N.C. Baptist Assembly at Fort Caswell. MRS. JACK KYLE WHITE ...
