Harry Pickett, has join ed the sports department of The Charlotte Obsen'er, effec tive July 13. Clemmnn.s of Soulhoort. was among 100 students to par ticipate July &-11 in a Student In troduction to Engineering (SITE) program at N.C. State University in Raleigh. The South Brunswick High School student participated in demonstra tion classes and lab exercises in various engineering fields and career exploration sessions, and events with NCSU engineering students and pro fessors and practicing engineers. Driver Named Lisa Stanley has been named driver of the month for June at Union Primary School. She drives Bus No. 5. Smith of Leland. Sworn In Radford Reed Allen Jr. of l.ake Waccamaw was sworn in July 6 as a member of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, the 13-member body responsible for managing the state’s wildlife resources and setting and enforcing wildlife regulations. He will repre sent District 4, which includes Brunswick County. He replaces Joe Carpenter of Fayettevillo. HLs term expires June 30. 1993. Wins Frisbee Contest Allan Cheers and Martin Calandcr of Shallotte were wiimcrs in the 1987 Jr. World Class Frisbee local com petition held at the Brunswick Coun ty Government Complex in Bolivia on July 7. Both competed for accuracy and distance with a total of 55 throws each. They each advance to dLstrict competition. To Open Office Dr. Edward R. I^ncc plans to establish a fami ly medicine prac tice in August at Calabash's Salt Marsh Square, according to Rodney R. Pulley, ad ministrator of The Brunswick Hospital, to which I.ance’s practice will be allied. I^nce is presently serving a family practice residency at the Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, W.Va. He holds a B.A. in chemistry and M.D. from West Virginia Univer sity, Morgantown. W.Va. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. She stressed that each one should develop a set of personal values and adhere to them, putting into action community, economic and moral values. New member Carolyn Stillwell was recognized during the business meeting. Reports were given of the party held for residents of Brunswick Village and one honoring charter member Effie Parker. Plans were made for hosting the county Council meeting July 20. The August 12 club meeting will be held at the Shallotte library. A craft workshop wa.s conducted by Hoff after the meeting.
