Antioch Baptist Church on Midway
Road in Bolivia celebrated its 120th
anniversary last week, with more
than 200 people attending Homecom
ing services on Oct. 11.
Rev. Tom I^mbert. a former in
terim pastor, delivered the message.
Rev. ami Mrs. Fred Johnson, who
scr\’ed the church from 1951 to 195.1.

According to Elaine Phelps,
church clerk. Antiocit has had 37
pastors (excluding interim pa.stors*
since its organization in 1867. begitin-
ing with Rev. Joltn Paul I.ennon wfjo
sensed the church quarter-time. In
the mid 19.10s, tlie church moved
from half-time to full-time under the
ministn.- of Rev. E.W. Pate.

Revival Services Begin Monday
The Shallotte Church of (lod will
liold revival services nightly Oct.
26-30 at 7:30 o'clock.
Guest speaker is the Rev. Franklin
Hunt of Fayetteville. Special singing
is planned each night.

south of Shallotte.
The pastor, the Rev. William R.

religious sociopolitical banquet Oct. 9
at the Brunswick County Govern
ment Center Public Assembly

Guest speaker was Rev. Dr. Ben
jamin F. Chavis Jr., executive direc
tor of the United Church of Christ
Commission for Racial Justice. He
explained the theme in the light of the
positive outcome of the ■ Wilmington
ren" experience and how he and
others have become much stronger
in human dignity, character and love
for all who are a part of the struggle
lo I i.->e rtliovc- negalivc philosophy.
I'he bottom line in his message was
love and unity.
At the close of his speech, he called
forward Joe Wright, one of the
Wilmington Ten ’ and now a law
.s‘hool .student.

ceremonies for the event, which was
