More than 60 students received
recognition in the form of certificates,

awards day, held June 9 in the school I
gymnasium. i
In past years, the transition from
middle school to high school had been
marked with a commencement pro- 1
gram at which several awards were I
presented. However, Principal Mark
Owens said it was decided that an 1
awards day would be more ap- I
propriate.
Along with recognition for ex- i
celltnce in vocational, vocational i
and extracurricular activities,
several special awards were j
presented, including the first Andrea |
Martin Memorial, in honor uf an (
eighth grade girl killed in a shooting
accident earlier in the year. Her
mother, Judy Martin, was present to
see the award presented to Tikila I
Morgan for outstanding service as a
Student Council representative.
Other eighth-grade awards were
presented as follows:
Woodmen of the World History

Algebra I: Pamela Detrie and
Jennifer Richardson.
Science: Jeff Ballou.
Outstanding Language Arts
