Robbins Brothers Convicted In Shooting Incident Two Phoenix community broth ers received 60-day jail terms after being convicted in a family feud shooting incident in Brunswick County Superior Court last week. - Willie Robbins was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury for shooting his half-brother, John ny Hatcher. Donnie Robbins was convicted of discharging a shotgun into an occupied dwelling. Both men pleaded not guilty. According to reports, the Oct. 5, 1989 shooting incident, which in volved five brothers, resulted from a family feud over a family land dispute, which had resulted in brothers filing warrants against one another. Two of the brothers, Cornell Rob bins and Hatcher, along with Alon zo Grady, returned home at about noon on the day of the shooting in cident and Willie, Donnie and Ron ald Robbins came into Come!! Rob bins' yard and pointed guns at the other three men, according to court records. After Cornell Robbins drove to Bolivia, filed warrants against his brothers and returned home about 3:15 p.m., his three brothers again camc into his yard, according to court records, and Ronald Robbins started a light with Grady. Cornell Robbins then went into his home, according to court rec ords, and came out with a 30-30 ri fle and fired one shot. Donnie Robbins then fired his shotgun at Cornell, according to the records and fired a second time as Cornell ran into his home. Willie Robbins ran from his home with a shotgun, records state, and shot at Hatchcr as Hatcher ran down the driveway toward the road, hitting him in the head, back and leg. Hatcher was admitted to New Hanover Memorial Hospital, where he was transported by the Leland Rescue Squad, according to the rec ords. Willie and Donnie Robbins were sentenced to three years' imprison ment, suspended under supervised probation for four years, with a spe cial condition of probation of 60 days in jail, which began Friday at 7 p.m. They will report two Fridays at 7 p.m. and be released the following Sundays at 7 p.m. They will contin ue with two weekends in jail and one out until 60 days are served. Additional terms of their proba tion include that they not possess or have a tircarm or deadly weapon on their premises; that they have no contact with Cornell Robbins, his wife or children, or Hatcher for the next two years; that the confiscated shotguns be surrendered to the county Sheriff's Department, to be released to their father alter six months upon request; and that they remain on their property at all times except when at work, church or at a doctor's office because of a medical condition. Willie Robbins also was ordered to pay for Hatcher's medical bills of SI, 301. 82 for two days in New Hanover Memorial Hospital. ? ? ? Six people pleaded guilty to co caine-selling charges in the April 23 session of Brunswick County Su perior Court. Wanda Ballard pleaded guilty to selling and delivering cocaine, Mar shall Ballard to selling cocaine, and Curt Williams, William Patrick Jol ly, Kermit McKeithan and Landis Hill pleaded guilty to possession with intent to sell and deliver co caine. Wanda Ballard and Williams re ceived three-year sentences, sus pcnded under a two-year supervised probation, and McKeithan a four year scnicncc suspended under un supervised probation. He will serve seven days in the county jail and pay 51,750 to the SBI undercover fund, at SI 50 a month beginning June 10 and provide 100 hours of community service within two years. Marshall Ballard, Jolly and Hill received prayer for judgment continucds. Judgment for them is scheduled to be rendered in the May 7 session of Superior Court before Judge Giles R. Clark. ? ? ? William Kratzer pleaded guilty to two counts of breaking and entering and larceny, and two counts of com mon law robbery and Francis Kratzer to one count of common law robbery and one county of pos session of stolen property. William Kratzer was sentenced to a total of six years on the common law robbery charges, with restitu tion of S2.280 and to 10 years, sus pended under supervised probation, on the breaking, entering and larce ny charges. Francis Kratzer was sentenced to five years, suspended under five years of supervised probation and special conditions that include 90 days in the county jail, SI, 627 resti tution and 175 hours of community scrvicc within three years. ? ? ? Zilphia Mobley was sentenced to two years, suspended under three years of supervised probation; serve 21 days in the county jail by serving every other weekend and pay court costs. ?
