HEWETT Planning for the year's work was the goal when the District 6 Group 2 churches gathered Satur day, Jan. 26, for the annual board meeting in the new Mt. Zicn Mission ary Baptist Church in Brunswick. Senior, young adult and youth officers from Brunswick, New Hanover and Columbus counties at tended the meeting. Rev. Herman Stevenson was the host pastor and Rosa Lee Gardner was the mission circle president. Representing Cedar Grove was the senior mission president Pencie Bryant, Barbara T. Hewett or a member of the enlistment commit tee, 2nd vice president Berneatha Gore or a member of the Christian education committee, 3rd vice pres ident Dorothy Hewett or a designee of the mission-in-action committee and 4th vice president Sandra Rob inson or a member of the steward ship committee. Attending from the young adult department of Cedar Grove were young adult director Christobelle Bryant and president Perita Bryant Price. Youth Supervisor Lucille Bryant represented the youth de partment. Correction Herbert "Bobby" Johnson, who gave the testimony of overcoming serious accidents, resides in Brazar ia, Texas, instead of Detroit, Mich igan. HEWETT First Meeting Called Rev. Moses Clyde Herring is the new president of the Cedar Grove Chapter of the NAACP. Former president Jessie Bryant announced his resignation earlier this month. Rev. Herring called his first meet ing Sunday, Jan. 27, in Mt Zion Church in Longwood. Gause, the daughter of George and Eveda Gause, was crowned Little Miss Holy Beth el 1991 Jan. 20 in the church's annual baby con test. She was spon sored by Margia M. Leach. ROBERT BIDDLE Robert Anderson 'Tata" Biddle, 66, of Rocky Point and formerly of Wilmington, died Jan. 24 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, on July 17, 1924, the son of the late John W. and Amelia Stefano Biddle. Biddle was a member of Castle Hayne Baptist Church. He was a retired engineer with Atlantic Coast Line Railroad after 39 years of service. He was a mem ber of the VFW and a member and past commander of the American Legion.
