CaCeruCar With the coming of spring, the South Brunswick Islands gears up once again to welcome its round of guests from every where. This annual visitation, extending from Easter through Labor Day, marks us as truly fortunate. Spring and summer arc, for us, more than seasons of flowers, fishing and fun; they are also opportunities to make new friends and to show off our attractive county and its array of special events. This year there are unique differences in this picture. Oh, yes, the same exciting festivals appear on our calendar; golf courses and beaches abound as ever; so docs the sunshine and so do smiling local faces. However, all our pleasures are now enjoyed in the context of world turbulence. As we go to press at Easter time, there is tension, apprehension, and sadness as we consider the hundreds of thousands of our finest young people in a military mode in the Persian Gulf. Concerns of life and death can affect recreation in contrasting ways: our lively participation may be somewhat dampened, but we also have a keener appreciation for those light-hearted pursuits that we need as a balance to work, responsibility and distress. The South Brunswick Islands and all of Brunswick County, therefore, offer the following joyous opportunities, aware of the world's burden of grief but also recognizing how much we need to Dlay together and enjoy the world of nature that always speaks of renewal and hope.
