SESSIONS PLACES THIRD NMB Team Wins Rotary King Tourney The Heather Renee fishing team claimed its second straight victory in the North Myrtle Beach Rotary King Mackerel Tournament over the weekend with a 39-pound, 2-ouncc fish. Larry Fowler, Wayne Hill and Harold N'caly of North Myrtle Beach won the top prize of SI, 642.50 with a king caught the first day of the two-day event. A forecast for poor fishing weather limited the number of en tries this year to 13, said tournament chairman John Schwab. Saturday turned out to be a good day for fishing, he said, but fisher men had to stay close to shore Sunday becausc of rough seas. The second-place prize of $861.75 went to Mike Abendshein of Myrtle Beach for a king that weighed 25 pounds, 5 ounces. He was fishing aboard the Carta Anne II. Sammy Sessions of Ocean Isle Beach was the only local winner, claiming the third-place prize of S533.25 with a 21-pound, 10-ouncc king. He fished on the Shooting Star II with Robert King and Brent Gore. Charlie Stuart of North Myrtle Beach won the fourth-place prize of S247.50 for aggregate weight. Fishing on the Gone Again, Stuart and his crew weighed in kings over the two-day event with a combined weight of 40 pounds, 8 ounces. The event was the area's first king mackerel tournament of the season. It was held in conjunction with the Little River Blue Crab Festival. Jimmy High was issued a notice of violation in March for adding on to an existing dock at Calabash Mar ina without a permit, said Jim Her stinc, regional director of the N.C. The original dock was permitted in 1986. The owner had requested the ad ditional 620 feet of dock in the orig inal permit, but the state wouldn't allow it bccausc it would have in fringed on the rights of neighboring property owners. Hcrstinc said anyone who owns waterfront property is guaranteed acccss to the water from their own land. But they aren't allowed to build outside their "acccss corridor" without permission from adjacent landowners. The marina owner has until May 31 to remove the new docks. Hcr stinc said High has signed a restora tion plan and told the state he plans to remove the unauthorized docks. If the docks aren't removed by the end of the month, Hcrstinc said the state would issue a noticc of continuing violation and give the owner another deadline. If the dock still isn't taken down, the matter would be turned over to lawyers who could seek a court in junction.
