Brunswick County sheriff's de tectives are investigating a string of break-ins in the Lcland and Belville arra nvpr ihc wwkpnrf A juvenile has been charged with one of the larcenies, said Dei. Gary Shay. Break-ins were reported at the Belville Minit Mart. Care South of fice in Belville, Pizza Hut, North Brunswick High School, the N.C. Department of Transportation main tenance yard at Belville and at Walker Mobile Home Sales. According to Deputy Brian Sand ers' report, someone pried open a rear door at the Belville Minit Mart between closing Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday. Taken were 70 cartons of cigaret tes valued at S840, a box of cigaret te papers valued at S27 and S 100 in rolled coins. Det. Ken Mcsscr said someone also broke into the Care South of fice next to the Minit Mart the same night, causing $800 in damage but taking nothing. P.J. Perry, manager of the Pizza Hut at the Clairmont Shopping Cen ter in Leland, reported someone climbed to the roof of the restaurant late Thursday or early Friday and damaged part of the building. According to Sanders' report, the would-be burglars attempted to pry open a roof door but were unsuc cessful. A security alarm apparently scar ed the burglars away, the report states. A boat motor, generator, saw and battery valued at over $1,500 were taken from a storage shed at the DOT bridge maintenance yard in Belville the same night. The burglars jumped a fence and pried a lock off a storage shed, San ders reported. The string of crimes continued CRIME REPORT when someone climbed a fence at North Rninswirk High School the same night and took a cassette play er from a school van. The left door window of the van was broken with a brick, Sanders said. The van's door and frame was also dented, causing an estimated SI, 600 in damage. A pickup truck parked at Walker Mobile Home Sales on Village Road was also broken into either late Thursday or early Friday. An estimated S924 in fishing equipment, a pager, stereo speakers and cassette tapes were taken. Part of the property was recovered from that break-in. Shay reported. Petitions were filed against a Le land juvenile in that case, he said. No damage was reported. ?Tires were slashed on two vehi cles at the Daniels Construction parking lot at the Du Pont plant in Leland early Monday, reported Deputy Richard DuVall. Damage was estimated at S265. ?Someone broke into the Bruns wick Driving School office on U.S. 17 near Supply Monday and took a S300 television. The burglar kicked open a front door, causing S200 in damage, Deputy Georgia Phelps re ported. ?A gas tank to a boat was stolen at a Town Creek Colony home Friday, reported Deputy Pete Moore. The lank was valued at S75. ?Someone rode away with 2 S90 bicycle from a Bonaparte Drive home Friday night, reported Ms. Phelps. ?A 51,609 vacuum cleaner was swiped from a pickup truck parked at Seaside Plaza Saturday, reported Deputy Phil Bryant. The owner had stepped inside the store to buy cigarettes. ?An estimated $450 in goods were removed from a Calabash area home, Bryant reported. Someone climbed through a window and took a refigcrator, microwave, rocking chair, electric heater and hammer. ?Five windows to a home on N.C. 179 near Seaside were shot out sometime Sunday, Bryant rcpui icu. Someone fired birdshot at the home while no one was inside. ?Thieves broke into a Sandhill Drive home near Supply causing S250 in damage to a door, reported Deputy William Hcwett. The item taken was intended to keep burglars away, a S35 security light.
