Kent Jordan Jr. were married May
25 at Calvary Baptist Church in
Shallotte.
The Rev. John Landers officiated
the 5 p.m. ceremony.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Smith of Shallotte, is a
graduate of West Brunswick High
School and N.C. State University.
She is employed as a telecommuni
cation specialist with Phone Amcr
ica. Inc., in Charlotte.
The bridegroom is the son of
Patricia Jordan of Athens, Ga.,.and
Mr. and Mrs. William Kent Jordan
Sr. of Hartslield, Ga. He is a gradu
ate of Clarke Central High School
and N.C. State University, where he
was a four-year letterman on the
football team. He is employed as a
manufacturing manager with Milli
ken & Co., Blacksburg, S.C.
Paul G. Smith gave his daughter
in marriage.
Lynlcy Mchalic of Tampa, Fla.,
was honor attendant. Dana Mills of
Raleigh was bridesmaid and Lynd
scy Daley of Mentor, Ohio, was
flower girl.
Mike Jordan of Athens, Ga., was
best man. Barret Mills of Raleigh
was usher and Brian Jordan was
ringbearcr.
The bride wore a formal white
gown designed by Ilissa that fea
tured large pouf sleeves. Her veil of
illusion with pouf was attached to a
head band of seed pearls and se
quins.
The bride's parents hosted a re
ception at the JonesXByrd Club
house, Sea Trail Plantation, with a
dinner buffet, cocktails, dancing fol
lowed with music by the William
Shaffer Orchestra and vocals by
Francis Niland.
Out-of-town guests attended the
wedding from Ohio, New York, New
Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Geor
gia, Florida, Texas and Colorado.
Following a honeymoon trip to
Jamaica, the couple will reside in
Gastonia.

the birth of a daughter, Kcndra
Renee Webb, May 7 at New Han
over Regional Medical Center in
Wilmington.
Born at 12:23 a.m., Kendra
weighed 1 pound, 15 ounces and
was 13 1/2 inches long.

Gavin To Speak To Tov/n Creek Seniors
A.F. Gavin of Soulhport will dis
cuss his experiences as a school
icachcr and administrator in Alaska
at the next meeting of Town Creek
Seniors Citizens.
The meeting is Thursday, June 6,
at 1 p.m. in the Town Creek Com
munity Building on U.S. 17.
Gavin recently published a book
about Alaska titled Walking Among
Tall Trees, said club spokesman Bill
Dunn.
Meetings of the Town Creek
Seniors Citizens are open to resi
dents of the Bishop, Boiling Spring
Lakes, Bolivia, Funston, Mill
Creek, Town Creek and Winnabow
communities.
Refreshments will be served, and
bingo will be played after the meet
ing, said President Lena Beachum.
NARFE To Meet
A representative of the N.C. Coa
lition for Legislative Action will
speak at the next meeting of the
Brunswick County Chapter of the
National Association of Retired
Federal Employees (NARFE).
The group will hold its monthly
meeting Tuesday, June 4, at noon at
the Sandfiddler Restaurant in South
port.
NARFE meetings arc open to the
public. Membership is available to
all federal retirees and federal em
ployees wiih at least five years ser
vice.

meeting.

p.m. at the Holdcn Beach Chapel.

double ring ceremony. Music was

The bride is daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Deal of Lancaster, Pa.,
and Holdcn Beach.

father.

Columbia, S.C. Bridesmaids were
Gwen Cushing of Columbia, S.C.,
and Amy Thomas of Myrtle Beach,
S.C., cousins of the bride. Caroline
