Born in Vanceboro June 1, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Walt er Raleigh and Ruth Bland Huff. Prior to her retirement she and her husband co-owned Brunswick Trac tor Company in Longwood. Survivors includc her husband, Leo L. Tripp of the home; three sons, Lacy Tripp of Angicr, Eugene Tripp of Shallottc and David Tripp Sr. of Ash; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. CLAUDIA JOHNSON WELLS Claudia Johnson Wells, 88, of Southport. died June 8 at Autumn Care Convalescent Center in Shal lottc. The funeral was June 11 in Trinity United Methodist Church, South port where she was a member. The Rev. P.D. Mkigcu officiated. Burial was in Northwood Cemetery. Mrs. Wells was bom March 17, 19()3, in Southport. She had been a Dosher Hospital volunteer and a member of the Southport Woman's Club. She was the widow of Wil liam S. Wells Sr. Survivors include a son, William S. Wells Jr. of Hampton, Va.; a brother, James Johnson of Raleigh; a sister, Helen Tonn of Tampa, Fla.: three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund. PAUL DOUGLAS KERR Paul Douglas Kerr, 55, of Yaupon Beach, died June 8 at Dosher Memorial Hospital. Southport. He was the executive vice president of the Robert Ruark Foundation. The funeral was June 10 at First Presbyterian Chuch in High Point with Dr. Scott Woodmansce offici ating. Burial was in Guilford Mem orial Park. Kerr was bom Sept. 4, 1935, in High Point, son of Mazie Specglc Kerr and the late Paul G. Kerr. He moved here from High Point nearly three years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and had worked as a trade associa tion executive. He was a member of Oak Island Presbyterian Church, Southport Rotary Club, the Public Relations Society of America and the American Society of Associa tion Executives. He was formerly executive vice president of the Southport-Oak Is land Chamber of Commerce. While a Rotarian in High Point he was a recipient of the covctcd Paul Harris Fellow Award. He had also previously served as chairman of the fund drive for the High Point Chapter of the American Heart Association. Survivors include his wife, Nan cy Jane Lucas Kerr of ihc home; a son. Paul Douglas Kerr Jr. of Ihc home; a daughter, Sharon Kerr Bos tic of Bculaville; his mother, Ma/ic Freeman of High Point; and a sister, Joann Vuncannon of Greensboro; and two grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. IVA LORENA GORE Iva Lorena Gore, 81, of Route 3, Shallotte, died June 9 at her resi dence. The funeral was to be held Wednesday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Old Shallotte Baptist Church, Grissettown. where she was a mem ber. The Rev. Ivrcn Hughes was to officiate, with burial in Brunswick Memorial Gardens. Born in Brunswick County on Dec. 17, 1909, she was a daughter gf the late Richard and Lula Holden Sellers. Until her illness she was very active in her church. RELIGIOUS BRIEFS Children's Mission Coming To Ocean Isle Beach Children's Sand and Surf Mission (CSSM) will offer its program for elementary school age children July 8-12 at Ocean Isle Beach. Lorna Morris of Little River, S.C., said the program will offer songs, skits, puppets, Bible stories and oth er activities from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Monday through Friday near the Ocean Isle Beach Pjer. The site will be marked by a red CSSM banner. Children ages 5 through 12 arc wel come, along with their parents. The program is run by Children's Ministries, a national organization headquartered in Pittsburgh. Pa. The program is free, with preregistration not required. First Area CROP Walk Nets $4,000 For Hunger Relief Walkers and their sponsors raised more than S4.000 to help fight hunger in the first South Brunswick Intcrchurch Council CROP Walk last month. Nearly 100 people from six area churches walked or jogged the 10 kilometer route at Se-a Trail Plan tation, said Don Eggcrt, coordinator. One-fourth of the S4, 171.50 raised will be kept in the communi ty to help feed the hungry.
