Twelve persons were sentenced
on driving while impaired charges in
Brunswick County District Court
last week as three different judges
conducted the three-day session.

five DW1 defendants, giving three
active terms ranging from two days
to 14 days in jail. One was also
placed under 10 days of house ar
rest.
Judge D. Jack Hooks Jr. sen
tenced two DWI defendants, one to
48 hours of community service and
another to 72 hours of community
service. Both were fined $100.
Judge Napoleon B. Barefoot Jr.
sentenced five on DWI charges. One
defendant received a one-year prison
term and was recommended for the
DART program, a drug and alcohol
rehabilitation treatment program of
fered by the N.C. Department of
Corrections.
