was 88.

Bom March 23, 1904, in Chan
cellor, Ala., she was the daughter of
the late Martha Jane Johnson and
Thomas Luther Ringgold. She had
lived in Soulhport for more than 50
years. She was a member of South
port Baptist Church, where she had
been active in many activities, and
was a former volunteer at Doshcr
Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include two sons, Ro
bert Nicholas Cullis of Orlando,
Fla . and Raymond William Cullis
of Southport; a daughter, Rita Ann
Pennington of Conway, S.C.; three
grandchildren; and four great-grand
children.

May 22, I960, he was the son of
Helen L. Serviss of Calabash and
the late George Addision Serviss.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a
member of the Calabash Elks
Lodge. He was a chef with Kroger
Food Stores.

vivors include three brothers,
Wayne A. Serviss and Jimmy J. Ser

Lovie Jane C. Fulford. 94, of
Route 1, Supply, died May 31 in
The Brunswick Hospital.
The funeral was June 2 at Sabbath
Home Baptist Church. Supply, with
the Rev.Sidney Britt and the Rev.
Weston Vamum officiating. Burial
was in the church ccmetery.
Mrs. Fulford was born in Supply
on Feb. 1, 1898, the daughter of the
late Jim Thomas and Julia Fulford
Caison. She was a member of
Sabbath Home Baptist Church. She
was preceded in death by her hus
band, Herman Fulford, and a daugh
ter, Alcne Robinson.
Her survivors include a son, Jabic
Fulford of Supply; five daughters,
Beatrice Fulford, Violet Fullord,
Mable Corbett and Vera Carlisle, all
of Supply, and Marie Del Re of
Washington, D.C.; 16 grandchil
dren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 1 1
great-great-grandchildren.
WALTER LEO SCOGGINS
Walter Leo Scoggins, 94, of
Route 1 , Supply died May 30 in The
Brunswick Hospital.
The funeral was to be held Wed
nesday, June 3, at 11 a.m. at Bible
Baptist Church, with the Rev. Nor
man Gunther officiating. Burial was
to be at 4 p.m. in Apex Cemetery,
Apex.
Scoggins was bom in Pitt County
on Sept. 10, 1897. and was the son
of the late Thomas W. and Maggie
L. Scoggins. He was a member of
Sabbath Home Baptist Church,
Supply.
While living in Durham he was a
charier member of Cresset Baptist
Church and a member of Yates
Baptist Church. He retired troni The
American Tobacco Company.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian
Bryant Scoggins of the home; a son,
Ronnie Scoggins of Supply; a
daughter, Mary Frances Scoggins
Johnson of Supply; and five grand

David Eunice Fulford, 80. of the
Holden Beach community, died May
31 at The Brunswick Hospital. He
was a retired commercial fisherman.
The funeral was held June 2 at
Sabbath Home Baptist Church, with

Trade Varnam, the Rev. Sidney
Britt and the Rev. Jack Hancox offi
ciating. Burial was planned in the
church cemetery.
Fulford was bom in Supply on
June 18, 1911, the son of the late
John Loving and Rcbccca Jean
Fulford. He was a member of Sab
bath Home Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Ethel Robinson Fulford; three
brothers, John Goodman Fulford,
James Leon Fulford and Jesse Ful
ford; and a sister, Beatrice Fulford.
Survivors include a son, Luke
Fulford of Holden Bcach; a brother,
Ellis Fulford of Supply; two sisters,
Curtie Caison and Christine Cole
man, both of Supply; and a grand

He was a sound engineer with
major networks and a show business
personality. He was a member of
American Federation of TV and
Radio Artists and The Scrccn Actors
Guild.

J. Prcscott Jr. of Pinebush, N.Y.; a
daughter, Pamela P. Pahl of Holden

She was 90.

of the late Donald and Jessie
Schrivanger Geddes.

VBS Offers ' Fantastic Journey'
Vacation Bible School at
Brunswick Islands Baptist Church
near Holden Beach will offer a one
week "Fantastic Journey" starting
Monday, June 15.
The school will open at 9 a.m.
and continue until noon each day
through June 19 and is open to boys
and girls from preschool age
through ninth grade.
The nautical "Fantastic Journey"
theme commemorates Columbus'
voyage to America. In addition to
Bible study, mission education and
learning activities, special events are
planned.
"I am really excited about the
novel plans for the school," said the
Rev. Jack Hancox, pastor. "I am
anxious for many boys and girls
from our neighborhood, whether or
not they are currently attending our
Sunday school, to join us for this ac
tivity."
Parents' night will be held June
21 at 7 o'clock, with all classrooms
open to allow parents to view pro
jects completed by children during
the week. Refreshments will be
served after the service.

Calabash Presbyterian Church
will hold its first yard and baked
goods sale Saturday, June 6, from 8
a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of
the church.
Items for sale will include furni

clothing, jewelry and toys, along
with homcbakcd goods.
Proceeds will be used to purchase
items needed for the church.

The Rev. Robert Stewart is the

Adams To Perform
The Rev. James R. Adams of
Pink Hill will present dramatic min
istries at two local churches Sunday,
June 7.
The ordained Baptist minister will
perform at Seaside Christian Fellow
ship at 1 1 a.m., and New Life As
sembly at 3 p.m.
At Seaside Christian, Adams will
portray Pontius Pilate, the Roman
government official who sentenced
Jesus Christ to death by crucifixion.
He will appear in costume for the
reading, "A Washing of the Hands."
Adams will present a narrative of
Peter's testimony of walking on wa
ter Sunday afternoon at New Life
Assembly in Supply. The church is
located on Stone Chimney Road.
Pontius Pilate and Peter are two
of 27 characters which Adams has
brought to the pulpits of the South
during his 30-year ministry.
