VFD To Serve BBQ
Winnabow Volunteer Fire De
partment will serve pork barbecue
dinners Saturday, Feb. 6, from 11
a.m. to 5 p.m. at the fire station on
Governor's Road off U.S. 17 in
Winnabow.
Plates will consist of chopped
pork barbecue, potato salad, cole
slaw and hush puppies. Cost is S3
per plate, or $4.50 for a "super
plate," said spokesman Ralph E.

Last Call For Trips
Brunswick County Parks and
Recreation Department is taking
reservations for two upcoming trips
for senior citizens.
The first is a March 24 day trip to
Charlotte to see Singers in the Band,
a musical luncheon program. The
S30 fee is due Feb. 18.
The sccond is an overnight trip
March 10 and 11 to the North
Carolina Zoo in Ashcboro, a Barn
Dinner Theatre show and visits to
Greensboro area attractions. The fee
is S75, with several meals not in
cluded.

were married in a 2 p.m. ceremony
Jan. 30 at Lcland Baptist Church.
The Rev. Billy Buchanan officiated
the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Jesse Lee Hayes Sr. of
Leland. The groom is the son of
Joyce Faulk of Wilmington.
The bride, given in marriage by
her parents, wore a gown featuring a
chapel-length train, cut-out V-back,
illusion net above a sweetheart
neckline, tapered sleeves and a full
skirt hemmed in lace. Her veil was
of white tulle hemmed double
length in back. She carried a lace
covered Bible accented with an or
chid with ivy and ribbon streamers.
Matron of honor was Kelly Wolfe
of Castle Haync, the bride's sister.
She wore a tea-length satin dress of
peacock color with lace bodice and
V-back with bow.
Bridesmaids were Opal Hayes of
Holdcn Beach, sister-in-law of the
bride; Shannon V. Crain Shaw of
Lcland, cousin of the bride; and
Linda C. Williamson of Lcland.
They wore gowns identical to that of
the matron of honor.
Flower girl was Kerrie L. Hayes,
the bride's niece.
Roland E. Clark III of Long Beach
was best man. Ushers were Joseph
N. McDuffy Jr. of Wilmington, the
bride's cousin; Frank J. Wolfe of
Castle Haync, the bride's brother-in
law; and Jesse L. Hayes Jr. of
Holdcn Beach, the bride's brother.
A reception in the church fellow
ship hall followed the wedding.
The bride is a graduate of North
Brunswick High School and Cape
Fear Community College. She is an
office assistant at Rose's on
Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington.
The groom is also a graduate of
North Brunswick High School. He
is a grade foreman for Landmark
Construction.
Alberghetti To Perform
Singer and Tony Award-winning
actress Anna Maria Alberghetti will
perform Saturday, Feb. 6, at 8 p.m.
in the Bowers Cultural Arts Center
at Whitcville High School.
Alberghetti won a Tony for best
actress in a musical for her perfor
mance of Lily in the Broadway clas
sic Carnival. She has recently re
turned to the professional world af
ter a hiatus of more than 20 years.
Her concert in Whitcville is part
of Southeastern Community
College's Performing Arts Scries.
