The Tommyc Glenn Outstanding Clubwoman Award went to Shirlccn Milliken for "her outstanding contri bution as a new member in all areas of clubwork." CLUB BRIEFS Appreciation Dinner Planned For Auxiliary The Veterans of Foreign Wars will host an appreciation dinner for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 7288 of Calabash at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, at the the post. The auxiliary will hold a lun cheon on Wednesday, March 3, at 12:30 p.m. at the post. Lauren All Gilligan will demonstrate "Curtain Care Easy Bracket" and there will be a guest speaker from Hope Harbor Home. All proceeds from the luncheon will go to Hope Harbor Home. Limited tickcts will be sold at the post bar daily for S3 each. The event is open to the public. The auxiliary's next trip to the VA Hospital will be on Saturday, March 13 to play bingo with the vet erans and take refreshments. The group's next meeting is Monday, Feb. 15, at the post at 6:30 p.m. NARFE To Meet The Brunswick County Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NAR FE) will hold its monthly meeting at the Spare Time Restaurant, N.C. 179, Shallottc, at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Guest speaker will be Keith Craig of the N.C. Department of Trans portation, who will discuss highway bcaulification. NARFE meetings arc open to the public; membership in NARFE is available to all federal retirees and federal employees with at least five years' service. New Session Of Diabetes Education Begins Feb. 1 0 The winter session of the Dia betes Education Class at The Bruns wick Hospital will begin on Wed nesday. Feb. 10. The first chss will take placc from 3-5 p.m. and will meet in the hospital's confcrcncc room. A schedule will then be set for other classes depending on the number of participants. The purpose of the program is to educate diabetics about proper nutri tion, exercise, eye care and fool care associated with their disease. It also will focus on the stress complica tions associated with diabetes. Classes arc free of charge and are open to all diabetics and family members involved in their care. Registered nurses from The Bruns wick Hospital will be teaching each class. Program participants will be in vited to join the Diabetes Support Group, which meets on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the hospital conference room.
