She was born July 27, 1930, in
Southport to the late Roderick H.
and Rosa Bell WillctLs Sellers.
Survivors include her husband,

ters, Linda Farmer of Greenville and
Cathy Brown of Southport; a son,
Dwayne Price of Southport; two sis
ters, Lcttie Thompson of Southport

LOCKERMAN
Pnscilla Lynch Lockerman, 51, of
Chadbourn, died Jan. 26 in Rex
Hospital in Raleigh after a lengthy
illness with cancer.
A memorial service was held Jan.
28 in Chadbourn Presbyterian
Church by Dr. William E. Pauley.
Lockerman taught in the North
Carolina Public Schools for 30
years, including the Brunswick
County Schools.
She was the daughter of the late
Andrew J. Lynch.
Survivors include a husband.
Perry Jones Lockcrman of the home;
her mother, Almedia Lynch of Roa
noke Rapids; and a sister, Sylvia
Rowe of Princeton.

LACY B. GORE
Lacy Belton Gore, 71, of Route 4,
Whitevillc, died Jan. 29 at his home.
The funeral was Jan. 31 at Old
Dock United Methodist Church,
with burial in the church cemetery.
Gore was born in Columbus
County, the son of the late William
and Millie Hayes Gore. He was an
area foreman with the N.C. Depart
ment of Transportation for 38 years
until his retirement in February
1982.
Survivors include his wife, Dora
Batten Gore; a daughter, Linda G.
Dew of Whitevillc; two sons,
Wayne Gore of Whitevillc and Billy
Gore of Clarendon; a stepson, Will
iam F. Adams of Charleston, S.C.; a
stepdaughter. Donna Kay Singletary
of Route 4, Whitevillc; a brother,
Elbert Gore of Route 4, Whitevillc;
three sisters, Annie Mae Inman and
Katie Evans, both of Nakina, and
Nellie Ward of Route 4, Whitevillc;
four grandchildren; and two step
grandchildren.

Ann Christine Woods, 83, of
Calabash, died Jan. 28 in Conway
(S.C.) Hospital after a lengthy ill
ness.
A private funeral service will be
held at a later date in New London,
N.H.
Mrs. Woods was bom Dec. 15,
1909, in Bronx, N.Y., a daughter of
the late George William and
Christine Schierenbcck Wachsmuth.
She moved to this area seven years
ago from Bradford, N.H. She was a
Lutheran and was a retired legal sec
retary.

She was a member of Mill Creek
Baptist Church.

Ammons was born in Fairmont
on Jan. 16, 1923, the son of the late
Jack Allen and Annie Bell Small
Ammons. He was a veteran of
World War II and was a member of
Original Faith Freewill Baptist
Church in Leiand.
Survivors include his wife, Paula
Ammons of the home; two sons.
Jack E. Ammons of Lcland and
James Allen Ammons of Pincwood.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in
death by her husband, James Lauder
Morgan, who died in 1974.

Brunswick Islands Baptist
Breaks Ground For Building
Approximately 150 members,
friends arid guests of Brunswick
Islands Baptist Church attended the
groundbreaking Sunday tor a new
church building to be constructed at
the intersection of Ml Pisgah
Church Road and Holden Beach
Road iN.C. 130 East).
Work on the site will begin \ery
soon, as bids have already been re
ceived for the excavation. Once site
work is completed a concrete slab
will be poured and steel erected, said
Eddie Long, a deacon of the church.
In June, several churchcs across
North Carolina plan to send volun
teer labor to assist in constructing
walls, partitions, doors, windows
and other features. Between now
and June, church members plan dai
ly prayer vigils at a cross that will be
erected on the site.
At Sunday's 3 p.m. ceremony,
Maurice Cook, a retired professor of
agriculture from N.C. State Uni
versity and current president of the
North Carolina Baptist Men outlined
the church's progress since its con
stitution as a church May 3, 1992.
Previously members worshipped as
a mission of Antioch Baptist

Church, whose pastor, the Rev. Art

Also participating were the Rev.
Jack Hancox. pastor, Cameron No
ms, volunteer coordinator tor the
North Carolina Baptist Men; Bill
Smith, director of missions for the
Brunswick Baptist Association; and
the church choir.
The church building will be locat
ed on an 8.4-acre tract purchased in
1991.
Jack Hancox was called as mis
sion pastor in July 1990 and contin
ues as the church's first pastor. The
church has seen continued growth
since its start in October 1989 as
Holden Beach Baptist Mission and
now has 117 enrolled in Sunday
School and 142 members, according
