juveniles blamed l-or Vandalizing Mobile Homes With Satanic Graffiti a group ol juveniles is being blamed for vandalizing more than 20 vacation mobile homes in the Supplv vrea sometime in the past six weeks, a local detective said Mon day. Owners returned to their homes last week to find more than $700 worth of property missing and an es timated S650 damage to eight mo bile homes and two camper trailers in the Coastal Retreat subdivision off Stanbury Road in Supply recent ly, according to a crime report on file at the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department. At least 23 vacation trailers have been found with similar damage within a one-mile radius, according to Detective Gene Caison, who is in vestigating the cases. Windows were smashed in sever al of the homes. Curtains and papers were bumed in one home. Satanic symbols and slogans were found spray-painted on some of the mobile homes, according to reports by deputies Cathy Hamilton, Robert Young and Malcolm Long. The eight damaged trailers de scribed in the reports were all vaca tion homes owned by people from Salisbury, Faycucvillc, Randleman, Lexington and Madison, W.Va. Six were on Buckcyc Street and two on Oyster lane. Most had been left va cant since November, the reports said. One home had coffee and sugar poured all over the kitchen floor. Suntan oil and toothpaste were sprayed on the hallway walls. A ny lon rope securing the refrigerator door was bumed off, Hamilton re ported. A condom was found hanging from a cciling fan in one of the trail ers. Photographs were taken out of albums and strewn across the floor along with other items. Hamilton found evidence that candles had been burned in the home. In another trailer, someone carved three pentagrams (an occult symbol) and slogans such as "Satan is going to get you," "Go to hell," and "Hi!" with an exclamation point, Hami lton's report said. Long reported Finding "Satanic sculptures" on the back of one camper trailer along with the word "Goodbye." Caison said Monday that there was no evidence to suggest that the symbols indicate cult activity or devil worship. "It looked like a bunch of kids who saw this stuff on TV," Caison said. Young found burnt paper on a kitchen table and a door curtain bumed at another trailer. Many of the trailers had walls, furniture and appliances profusely "decorated" with multi-colored spray paint. Among the items found missing from some of the trailers were a fire extinguisher, a can of hair spray, a black jacket, a hunting knife a bottle of perfume, a ring and an embroi dery painting. Caison is continuing the investi gation and expects arrests to be made soon.
