Civitan Tourney Is Saturday
The South Brunswick Isles Civitan Club will hold its inaugural
Civitan Scholarship Golf Tournament this Saturday at Brierwood Golf
Club in Shallone.
The captain's choice event wiU get underway with a shotgun start at
8:30 a.m. The entry fee is $40 per player.
The tournament will feature a long drive competition at the sixth
hole, and closest-to-thc-pin contests at the third hole for women and
13th for men.
Golfers can register as part of a foursome or individually. The field
will be limited to 36 teams.
Proceeds will go to the South Brunswick Isles Civitan Club
Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded to West Brunswick High
School seniors based on academic record, participation in extracurricular
activities, financial need and performance in interviews.

Liz Bruce posted a score of 14 to
win the Brierwood Nineties" first
tournament of the season last Friday.
Golfers counted scores on their
best five holes. Runners-up were
Margaret Pingo with 15 and Judy
Durham and Dee Dee Havenga with
scores of 16.
Pat Narazinski chipped in at the
first hole, and Durham birdied the
ninth. Pars were cardcd by Pingo
and Havenga at the third and Bruce
at the eighth. Shirley Eifcrt had low
putts with 14, and Marion Allen had
15.
Carolina Shores Ladies
Jean Krisher, Use Batcman, Dolly
Molt and Dottic Russo shot 128 to
win the Carolina Shores Ladies Golf
Association tournament last Thurs
day on a match of cards.
Finishing second, also with 128,
was the team of Sally Manifold,
Kathy Dcming, Lois Hargreaves and
Blanche Johnson.
Teams counted one ball on par
fives, two balls on par fours and
three on par threes. Placing third
with 129 was the team of Lynn Jerr,
Cissic Fleming, Maxinc Gray and
Isobcl Sleight.
Sue Greiner had low putts for the
day with 27. Johnson had a birdie at
the eighth hole.
Making chip-ins were Gerry Bur
dick at the seventh, Mott at the
eighth, Greiner and Lill Haupt at the
15th and Jean Palmer at the 16th.

Golf Association tournament last
Friday at Ocean Isle Beach Golf
Course.
The format was total net score of
foursome. Finishing second with
300 was the team of Mercl Rishcr,
Dick Ringer, Jim Eaton and Alan
Klctchka.
Bill McDavit, Don Mahncke,
Julian Mattox and Bill Flynn placed
third with 306. The veterans' group
will play at Ocean Isle Beach again
this Friday.
Sea Trail Ladies
Joan Llewellyn fired nei 32 to
lead the first flight in the Sea Trail
Ladies Golf Association nine-hole
tournament last Wednesday.
Jean Krisher and Pat Reid tied for
second with 34. Tied for third with
scores of 35.5 were Jan Rick and
Joan Worley.
Top finishers in the second flight
included Jane Bye with 33 and Bar
bara Pointer with 34.5. Phyllis Man
fred and Pat Gardner tied for third at
35.
Marge Gallop led the third flight
with a score of 34. Runners-up were
Pat Burkart with 34.5 and Nancy
Mchnc with 35.5.
Birdies were carded by Krisher at
the third hole, Lois Pike at the 11th
and Llewellyn at the 12th.

Phyllis Harding finished first with

Renegades tournament last week at

of their handicaps. Dot Frcy was
second with a score of 40.

of 112 and low net of 73. Peg

and net 74.
Harding had low putts with 31.
Corbin had the only chip-in of the
day at the 14th hole.
