Fullwood led the iMdy Cougars in scoring and rebounding during their 26-1 season. South Brunswick's Fullwood Heads All-County Girls Basketball Team in DOUG RUTTKR South Brunswick's Jenny Full wimxI has been named county girls basketball player of the year after leading the l^ady Cougars to their best season in school history. Fullwood, a 5-11 senior, averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for South during a spectacular 26-1 season. The Lady Cougars won the Waccamaw 2-A Conference reg ular season and tournament titles. "She led us in both rebounding and scoring," said South Brunswick Coach Mike Iscnberg, who was se lected county coach of the year. "She also had quite a few steals and very few turnovers." Fullwood was the most consistent player this season for the Lady Cougars, who were undefeated dur ing the regular season and ranked as the lop 2-A team in the state for sev eral weeks. "Jenny was the most consistent player. Out of 27 games she only had off games three or four times," Isenberg said. "She never had a bad game as far as hustling and effort." Joining Fullwood on the 1992-93 All-Brunswick County squad were South Brunswick teammates Jodie Brown and LaTonya Hank ins, who played key roles for the balanced L^idy Cougars. Brown, a scrappy player, was a force as a scorer and rehounder in side, while Hankins stretched oppos ing defenses with her ability to hit outside shots. Both girls are seniors. Also earning spots on the hon orary all-county basketball team were West Brunswick senior Mon ique King and North Brunswick se nior Tanya Grady. King, a two-lime selection to the all-county squad, led a young Lady Trojan club to a 10-4 finish in the Waccamaw Conference and 13-12 record overall. King led the West Brunswick in scoring, steals and blocked shots. "She definitely meant a lot to the team. She was a team leader," Co3ch Brenda Council said. "She wasn't a very vocal person, but she did get the team pumped up in her own way." King's strongest qualities were her defense and steadying influence on a team that had only four seniors and often played with at least three underclassmen on the floor at one time. Grady, a 6-0 center, led North Brunswick in scoring and provided consistent rebounding and shot blocking for the 1-ady Scorpions. North Brunswick finished the sea son 2-17. The All-Brunswick County high school basketball team is selected annually by sports editors of The Brunswick Beacon and State Port Pilot newspapers with recommenda tions from coaches. Editor's note: The boys' all-coun ty basketball team will be featured in next week's issue. Having a Golf Tournament? Mickie's has over 42 varieties of donuts.
