16-Year-Old NBHS Student Pleads Guilty !n Penci! Stabbing A 16-ycar old North Brunswick High School student was given a 30 day suspended jail sentence last week after admitting in Brunswick County District Court that she stabbed another girl in the eye with a pencil. Veronica Richardson of Southern Boulevard, Route 1, Winnabow, pleaded guilty Thursday to a charge of simple assault. As conditions of her suspended sentence, Richardson was ordered to pay the costs of court, S100 in attor ney fees and S67 restitution to her victim. She was put on supervised probation for two years and ordered not to possess a weapon or to assault or have any contact with the prose cuting witness during that period. Richardson had been charged with assault inflicting serious injury after she allegedly attacked De Angela Cobb of School House Road, Leland, last Nov. 12 "by stab bing her in the corner of her right eye with a pencil, thereby inflicting serious injur)' requiring medical treatment," according to the arrest warrant. There were three days of district court last week, presided over by Judge D. Jack Hooks Tuesday, Judge JcrTy A. Jolly Wednesday and Judge Napoleon B. Barefoot Jr. Thursday. Assistant District Attor ney Ola Lewis prosccuted cases for the state. Other defendants who appeared in court last week, with their charges, pleas and sentences include: Troy Lee Absher, DW1, driving while license rcvokcd-pcrmancnt. both voluntarily dismissed. J.
