Teammate Joe Crowder won the event by clearing 11 feet, 6 inches. Ohio School Outruns Local Field BY DOUG RUTTER Worthington Christian High School of Ohio stole the spotlight from county rivals South Brunswick and West Brunswick last Tuesday, sweeping a non-confer ence track meet at Boiling Spring Lakes. The Worthington boys scored 63 points to edge the host Cougars with 60 and West Brunswick with 45. The Ohio girls had an easier time, scoring 76 points to beat South with 54 and West with 29. Worthington, which was visiting the area during spring break, dominated the running events in the boys' and girls' competition. South Brunswick won five of the eight relay races. This was the third straight year that Worthington Christian has visited the county during spring break and competed at South Brunswick, according to chapcrone Howard Vane leave. The contingent of 65 athletes and 15 adults left Worthington March 26 and arrived by bus at Sunset Beach the following day for a week of workouts and the competition at South. "It's kind of a working vacation," Vancleave said. "It keeps growing every year by a few more people. The weather's been great this year too." The Worthington group rented eight homes at Sunset Beach. Besides running every day on the strand, Vancleave said the crew took the time to make sand sculptures with Biblical themes that attracted many cu rious onlookers. "It's an ideal situation for us," Vanclcave said of the annual spring visit. "We get the advantage of an un crowdcd beach and lower rates for rentals. It works out real well."
