The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 22. This year's event is shaping up to be a fun time for all. Charlie Webster, the pro at Bricrwood Golf Club, is chairing this year's tournament, and if you have ever played in one of Charlie's tournaments you know you're in for a well-run event that has something for every golfer. This year we wild have a mixed, a women's and a men's division. They will be flighted by participa tion, and the number of prizes will be appropriate to the number of teams in each division. DEARMAN With all the choices available there is no reason not to put a fun four some together and come on down. The committee is going all out to see that this year is one that will be hard to beat. The day will begin with breakfast and registration from 8-9 a.m. At 9 the tournament will begin with a shotgun start. Lunch will be served about 2 p.m., and while you arc waiting for lunch there will be a silent auction with some great items. After lunch at around 3:30 we will hold a regular auction that should be both fun and exciting for all. By the way, spouses arc invited to participate in the lunch and the auction. Lunch tick ets will be on sale for only S5, and a special 50/50 drawing will be part of the afternoon excitement. The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf and cart; all refresh ments before, during and after the round; a continental breakfast and buf fet lunch; and a closcst-to-pin prize on each of the four par-three holes. WCCA Changes Ownership, Format Radio station WCCA FM, under new ownership, will changc its for mat starling Easter weekend from easy listening to oldies and bcaeh music. Sound Business of Coastal North Carolina Inc. acquired the sta tion effective Jan. 29. Lee Hauser, former Wilmington ra dio executive, is president and general manager of the company as well as of HALSF.R Sound Business, Inc. in Eli/abethtown. Arthur S. DeBcrry of Durham is the principal owner of Sound Business. Hauser said the station's new for mat will feature "the music the post World War II baby boomers grew up with and have stayed with all their adult lives, especially the tunes pop ular during the summertime at the beaches." In addition to sharing its adult au dicnce with Wilmington area easy listening, public radio and adult con temporary stations, Hauser said WCCA has operated at "a signifi cant loss" for the past two years, one of the major reasons it was for sale. Hauser said his company is the third in the Wilmington area market to reconsider iLs easy listening for mat and switch to "more economi cally viable programming." Kathryn Gosscu will continue as manager of WCCA, which serves primarily Brunswick and New Hanover couniics. The Class A sta tion recently was granted a power increase from 3.(XX) watts to 6,(XX) watts by the FCC, with a new trans mitter to be installed within the next 30 days, Hauscr said in a news re lease. Hauscr grew up in Faycttcvillc and spent his summers at Brunswick County's beaches. He graduated from Pfeiffcr College with a bache lor's degree in business administra tion and the University of North Carolina with a master of arts degree in communication. As a graduate as sistant in the Department of Radio, Television and Motion Pictures there he managed WUNC FM. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Hauscr has been involved in radio since his student years at Pfeiffcr. He is former executive vicc presi dent of Village Companies of Chapel Hill, founder of WMFD, Inc. in Wilmington and served as presi dent and general manager of its suc cessor. Wilmington Radio Company. He also served as general manager for Great American Media's two sta tions in Morehcad City before they were sold. He and DeBcrry founded Sound Business, Inc. in July 1990. Bank To Expand First Atlantic Bank has acquired the former City Hall property in the Crescent Beach section of North Myrtle Beach and will build a major banking facility there, according to Robert E. Coffee Jr., bank president. The new branch facility will be ready for occupancy in early 1994. First Atlantic now operates from two facilities on U.S. 17 in Little River and from Sea Mountain High way in the Cherry Grove section.
