Calabash A 23-ycar-old Calabash man was sentenced to a year in prison last week alter pleading guilty in Bruns wick County District Court to charges of possessing marijuana and drug parapher; ?.ia. Michael Kevin Hughes of Hidden Valley Road was charged with hav ing in his possession less than 1 5 ounces of marijuana and "several plastic bags and a box used to pack age and repackage a controlled sub stance, according to the arrest war rants. The offense occurred Feb. 17. Judge Napoleon B. Barefoot Jr. sentenced Hughes to one year in prison to run at the expiration of any sentence he is now serving." Barefoot presided over district court Wednesday and Thursday (April 7 and 8), while Judge David Wall heard cases Tuesday. Assistant district attorneys Ola Lewis and Marion Warren presented evidence for the state.
