ROSIE FULFORD BELLAMY Rosie Fulford Bellamy, 93, of Shallouc, died April 20 at her resi dence. The funeral was April 23 at Cal vary Baptist Church, Shallottc, by the Rev. John Landers and the Rev. Bill Greer. Burial was in Sabbath Home Baptist Church Cemetery, Supply. Mrs. Bellamy was born in Bruns wick County on Nov. 16, 1899, the daughter of the late Dave and Mary Fulford. She was one of the found ers of Sabbath Home Baptist Church as well as a charter member of Cal vary Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Raymond Ellis Bellamy; a son. Palmer A. Bellamy; and four grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Nor man C. Bellamy of Supply and R.E. Bellamy Jr. of Shallottc; Five daugh ters, Mrs. Wilbur (Clara) Holden, Mrs. William (Ophelia) Gaithcr, Mrs. Roncy (Leona) Cheers and Evylcenc Reeves, all of Shallottc, and Mrs. H.D. (Margaret) Parrish of Supply; 27 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren; five sisters, Gertrude Phelps, Bessie Robinson and Lela Vamum, all of Supply, and Lydia Hcwett and Delia Pigott of Sha llottc; and three brothers, Isaiah Ful ford of Shallottc and Henry Fulford and Cecil Fulford, both of Supply. LONNIE PAUL BROADWELL Lonnie Paul Broadwell, 76, of Long Beach, died April 21 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. The funeral was April 23 at First Baptist Church of Oak Island, of which he was a member, with the Rev. Douglas HufT officiating. Burial was in Cape Fear Memorial Park. Born Jan. 5, 1917, in Marion, Broadwell moved to Long Beach from Greensboro in 1980. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War 11 and was a member of the Southern Kingfish Association and Oak Island Fishing Club. He was the re tired owner/operator of Pleasant Garden Body Shop. Survivors include his wife, Louise Freeman Broadwell of the home; two daughters, Anne Whitt of Yaup on Beach and Jackie Broadwell of Greensboro; two sons, Lany Broad well of Anniston, Ala., and Boyce Broadwell of Long Beach; a brother, Ertle Broadwell of Socastee, S.C.; a sister, Rosie Elmore of Socastee, S.C.; and five grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Oak Island. EBER J. BELLAMY Ebcr Jones Bellamy, 67, of Ashe boro died April 23. He was a retired welder and pipe fitter. The funeral was April 25 at Ridge Funeral Home, with the Rev. Junior Dawkins officiating. Burial was in Ocean County Memorial Park. He was a nauve of Guilford County and was a member of the Steamfitters Union, Local No. 475. Survivors include his wife. Nova Northcutt Bellamy of the home; two daughters, Marie Webber of Rem ington, NJ., and Rhonda Cremone of Piscataway, NJ.; a son, Michael Bellamy of Dunellen, N.J.; three sis ters, Mary Livingston of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Ina Mae Loflin of Jamestown and Eula Garden of Ventura, Calif.; three brothers, Char les Bellamy and Ed Bellamy, both of Little River, S.C., and Arthur Bellamy of Shallotte; and seven grandchildren. JERRY W. STEVENSON Jerry W. Stevenson of Supply died April 24. The funeral was held April 26 at Liule Macedonia Baptist Church in Supply, with the pastor, the Rev. Charles Jacobs, officiating. The Rev. Leo Stevenson delivered the eulogy. Burial was in Galloway Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Jessie McCoy of Bolivia and Jeanette Smith of Supply; and four sons, James H. (Pete) Stevenson, Jerry Lee Stevenson and Leon Stev enson, all of Supply, and William O. Stevenson of Washington, D.C. HOWARD "PAP" BRYANT Howard "Pap" Bryant of Bolivia died April 24 at his home. The funeral was April 27 at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Bolivia, with the pastor, the Rev. Raymond McLeod Jr., officiating. The Rev. Jessie Smith gave the eulo gy. Burial was in the Riley-Hewett Cemetery. Bom June 26,1928, in Bolivia, he was the son of the late George Tupper and Maggie M. Bryant. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He re turned to Brunswick County in 1973 from New London, Conn. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Bryant; two sons, David Bryant of Wilmington and Hugo Bryant of Bolivia; four daughters, Bessie Wil son of Wilmington, Vemell Bellamy ^nd Margo Hill of Bolivia and Artelia Hill of the home; three brot hers, Otis Bryant of Bolivia, Curtis Bryant of Greensboro and Ennett Bryant of Bolivia; three sisters, Gladys Graham and Maggie Sebas tian, both of Groton, Conn., and Rhoda Bryant of Mystic, Conn.; 16 grandchildren and one great-grand child. DAISY SOMERSETT RUSS THOMPKINS Daisy Somerset! Russ Thomp kins, 94, of Route 1, Ash, died April 24 in Autumn Care of Shallotte. The funeral was April 25 in Old Shallotte Baptist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Ivren Hughes and the Rev. Giles Butler officiated. Burial was in Mint/. Cemetery. She was bom in Brunswick Coun ty on April 17, 1899, a daughter of the late John and Mary Jane Milli ken Somerset!. She was the wife of the late Albert Russ and the late Ben Thompkins. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Bert Russ and Rudaw Russ. Survivors include three daughters. Ruby Haddock and Lina Belle Redwinc, both of Ash, and Bertha Bland of Longwood; two stepdaugh ters, Mary Pearl Bellamy of Hick man's Crossroads and Anna Hous and of Loris, S.C.; a stepson, Trent Thompkins of Ash; 11 grandchil dren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. GLENN DAVID JOLLY Glenn David Jolly, 71, of Shal lotte and formerly of Kannapolis, died April 22 at his home after four months of declining health. The funeral was April 26 at North Kannapolis Weslcyan Church, with the Rev. Lcroy Cox, the Rev. Donald Hard wick and the Rev. Jim Guffee officiating. Burial was in Carolina Memorial Park. Born Jan. 18, 1922, in Alexander County, he was the son of the late Carl A. and Minnie Little Jolly. He worked at Cannon Mills Plant No. 1 in the pipe shop for 30 years and lat er worked for Gamewell Mecahnical in Salisbury, retiring in 1986. Jolly had lived in Shallotte for six years. He was a member of Shell Point Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a former member of North Kannapolis Weslc yan Church, where he served as as sistant men's Bible class teacher and an administrative board member. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Doro thy Helms Jolly of the home; a daughter, Marilynn Jolly Smith of Mocksville; three sons, Kenneth Michael Jolly of Faith, Randy David Jolly of Supply and Darrell Glenn Jolly of Kannapolis; two sisters, Cora Lou Heffner of Taylorsville and Rosa Lee Myers of Salisbury; and a brother, Clyde Jolly of Hick ory; and eight grandchildren. J. BRYAN DOSHER The Rev. J. Bryan Doshcr, 82, of Long Beach died April 26 in Winston-Salem. He was a retired Baptist minister. The funeral was to be held at 3 p.m. April 28 at Bethel Baptist Church, Southport, of which he was a member. The Rev. Wayne Trexlcr was to officiate, with burial in Bethel Church Cemetery. Rev. Doshcr was bom July 11, 1910, in Brunswick County, the son of the late Thomas and Rosa Howard Doshcr. During his career in the ministry, he served as pastor of Ccntcrville Baptist Church, Kelly; Council Bap tist Church, Council; Morvcn Bapt ist Church, Morvcn; Red Hill Bapt ist Church, Wadcsboro; Glenn View Baptist Church, Winston-Salem; and Olivet Baptist Church, Wilmington. VERNON REED PAYNE Vernon Reed Payne of Tarheeland Acres died April 25 at his residence. The funeral was 11 a.m. today (Thursday) in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, Shallolte, with the Rev.George Speake offici ating. Burial was to be in Brunswick Memorial Gardens, Shallolte. He was born in Arlington, Va., a son of the late John Reed and Bessie Shackelford Payne. He was a retired district supervisor for Acme Super markets, and a member of Camp United Methodist Church, Shallouc. He was the husband of the late Coral Payne. Survivors includc his son, Eugene Vemon Payne of Springfield, Va.; a stepdaughter, LaVcmc Thomas of Ocean Isle Beach; a twin brother, Vinton Payne of Fairfax, Va.; a grandson, Kevin Patrick Payne of Springfield, Va.; a step-grandson, James L. Box 1926, Shallotte, N.C. 28459. ELLEN HOLTON DOWDY Ellen Holton Dowdy, 78, of Charlotte and Buccaneer Hills died April 26 at Huntersville Oaks. She was a homcmaker, retired from the accounts receivable department of Kendall Company. The funeral was held April 28 at McEwcn Funeral Home's Charlotte Chapel. A private burial service was held in Sharon Memorial Park. The Charlotte native was a charter member of Westminster Presbyte rian Church, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post No. 9736 at Croft, past president of Does of Charlotte Elks Lodge No. 392, past secretary and treasurer of Charlotte Retired Firefighters. Survivors includc her husband, Otis Dowdy; a son. IRA LEE EFIRD EFIRD Ira Lee Efird Efird, 80, of Albemarle died April 26 in Stanly Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be today (Thursday) at 4 p.m. at St. Martin Lutheran Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Clarence Walck, officiating. Burial will be in the church ceme tery. Born May 13, 1912 in Albemarle, she was the daughter of the late Martin Luther and Lindy Green Edwards Efird. She was a home maker and a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church. She was married to the late Floyd Lawrence Efird, who died in 1985. Survivors includc four daughters, Lynda E. Dennis of Shallotte and Albemarle, and Nancy E. Haywood, Pansy E. Morton and Jeanette Whitley Wagoner, all of Albemarle; two sisters, Dessie E. Morgan of Concord and Oda E. Hartsell of Albemarle; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. CHURCH ACTIVITIES Mill Creek Baptist To Show Film Mill Creek Baptist Church at Winnabow will show the inspira tional film, "The Journey?Seeking God Through Prayer and Praise" both Saturday and Sunday, May 2 and 3, at 7 p.m. at the church. No admission will be charged. The feature film tells the faith sto ry of artist Joni Earcckson Tada, who makes a courageous comcback after surviving a terrible accident that left her disabled.
