Surprise Birthday Party Nets Donations To Area Charities Family and friends of Loretta O. Sinnott donated S525 to local chari ties in lieu of gifts on her 90th birthday, cele brated April 25 with a surprise party at the Car olina Shores Properly Own ers Association building. The funds will be donated SINNOTT to Hospice, the Brunswick County Literacy Council, Meals on Wheels and Citizens for Life. The party was hosted by Sinott's daughters, Katie Bissett and Nancy Murray and their families and neigh bors, the Ladies Bridge Club, Carolina Shores Garden Club and Our Lady Star of the Sea Ladies Guild. Sinott began teaching school in Chicago in 1922 didn't retire until 1973 except for taking off seven years to have her three daughters. She keeps active and enjoys bridge and belonging to the garden club and ladies' guild. Many of the party refreshments were made from Sinott's recipes and, even though the party was a surprise, she helped make many items.
