Blue Crab Fest
On The Way
Two days of Low-Counlry-stylc
fun. That's the Blue Crab Festival at
Little River, May 15 and 16 from 10
a.m.
While the tasty blue crab may be
the focus, the menu will include
much more. Along with steamed
crabs, crab claws and crab cakes,
diners may choose from boiled
shrimp, steamed crawfish, barbccue,
funnel cakes, homemade ice cream,
freshly squeezed lemonade, soft
drinks, tea and more.
The entertainment menu is just as
varied, a smorgasbord of blucgrass,
jazz, blues, gospel, contemporary,
rock, country and barbershop style.
Cloggers, square dancers, dance
ensembles, waterway boat rides, ex
hibits by the Horry County Mus
eum, a petting zoo, ventriloquists, a
kids' activity comcr, games and face
painting help round out the family
oriented fare.
Admission is S2 for adults and $1
for children ages 6 and older. Half
price tickcts are available in advance
at all Little River banks and the Little
River Chamber of Commerce office.
A strong drawing card for the fes
tival is its array of arts and crafts
featuring work of some of the best
artists and artisans across the south
eastern United States. This year's
line-up includes paintings in all me
dia, pottery, drawings, photography,
porcelains, ironwork, pewter, metal
sculpture, quilts, clothing, stained
glass, weavings, wooden furniture,
toys and carvings, jewelry, musical
instruments, sweetgrass baskets and
floral arrangements.
Continuous entertainment will be
featured at two locations, the main
stage and a lawn area that's ideal for
spreading a picnic cloth or lounge
chairs.
District 4-H'ers
Slate Horse Show
Saturday morning 4-H'ers from
across the South Central District
will converge on Pcachtrcc Farms
near Hickman's Crossroads for the
District 4-H Horse Show.
They will vie for awards and the
opportunity to move on to the State
4-H Horse Show in July.
Entry into the show is free and in
terested persons are invited to at
tend, said Billy Privctte, cooperative
extension 4-H agent.
The district show is rotated yearly
among the 13 counties that make up
the South Central District.
