Deaths And Funerals AGNES THORNTON BATCHELOR Agnes Thornton Batchclor, 75, of Wilmington died May 17 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. A graveside service was held May 20 in Oakdalc Cemetery by Dr. Michael G. Queen. Mrs. Batchclor was bom in Dunn on Dec. 7, 1917, the daughter of the late Guthrie and Georgianna Jackson Thornton, and was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur (Wil lie) Alan Batchclor. She was a member of First Bap tist Church, the AARP and the North Carolina Nurses Association. She was retired from New Hanover Memorial Hospital. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Bryant of Baltimore, Md.; her son, Alan Batchclor of Rich mond, Va.; two brothers, Odic Thornton of Graham and Ervin Thornton of Leland; four grandchil dren; and three great-grandchildren. EDGAR LEE CAISON JR. Edgar Lee Caison Jr., 47, of Supply died May 21. The funeral was May 24 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Supply, with the Rev. Leo Cannon officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Mr. Caison was born in Southport on March 3, 1 ?46, the son of Edgar Lee Caison Sr. and Lctha Robinson Caison of Supply. Surviving in addition to his par ents is a son, Timothy Lewis Caison of Supply. EARL KENNETH SPENCER Earl Kenneth Spencer, 58, of Ocean Isle Beach, died May 20 at The Brunswick Hospital. The funeral was May 22 in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, Shallotte. He was bom on Dec. 8, 1934, in Attica, N.Y., to the late Harold and Estclle Spencer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict and had been an engineer for the B & O Railroad. He was affiliated with Sam's Place restaurant at Ocean Isle Beach. Survivors include his wife, Karen J. Spencer of the home; two daugh ters, Elizabeth Marguerite Spencer of Sunset Beach and Samantha Lea Spencer of the home; a brother, Jer ry Spencer of Pennsylvania; a sister, Helen Conway of Attica, N.Y.; a grandson, Kenneth Brooks of Sunset Beach; and others. LENA McLAMB Lena O Rila Fulwood McLamb, 76, of Shallotte, died May 22 in the University of Virginia Medical Cen ter, Richmond, Va The funeral was May 26 in Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Samuel Bryant, Elder Arman Rich and Elder Newell Helms officiated. Entombment was in the church cem etery. She was bom in Brunswick County on Jan. 18, 1917, the daugh ter of the late Henry and Sarah Frink Fulwood. She was a member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Aaron McLamb of the home; two sons, Douglas McLamb of Calabash and Lewis McLamb of Shallotte; a daughter, Olive M. Bessent of Shal lotte; a brother, Manley Fulwood of Shallotte; two sisters, Geneva F. He wett of Cherryville and Lucille F. Skipper of Shallotte; nine grandchil dren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family asked that memorials be made to Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Building Fund, in care of Douglas McLamb, 1031 Highpoint Avenue, Calabash, N.C. 28467. EUNICE FAIRCLOTH Eunicc Colccn Lewis Faircloth, 63, of Occan Isle Bcach, died May 21 in The Bmnswick Hospital fol lowing a long illness. A graveside service was held May 23 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Ce metery, with the Rev. Danny Harris officiating. Mrs. Faircloth was bom in Horry County, S.C., a daughter of the late William Henry and Ila Beatrice Fowler Lewis. She attended Beth lehem Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Lewis lames Faircloth of Occan Isle Beach; five brothers, David Lewis and Daniel Lewis, both of Ocean Isle Beach, Odcll Lewis of Sophia, Ernest Lewis of New London and Henry Lewis of Cherry Grove Beach, S.C.; two sisters, Sally Wat son of Sunset Bcach and Shelby Gurlcy of Archdale; and three grandchildren. JESSE CLIFTON (J.C.) WRIGHT Jesse Clifton Wright, 73, of Ever green, S.C., and formerly of Shal lotte, died Saturday, May 22, in a Florence, S.C., hospital after an ill ness. The funeral was May 24 in Cain Funeral Home Chapel, Florence, S.C. Burial was in Florence National Cemetery. Mr. Wright was bom in Horry County, S.C., the son of the late John W. and Cora Lee Sellers Wright He moved to Evergreen five months ago from Shallotte, where he was employed prior to retirement as a bank courier with United Car olina Bank. He also operated Wright's Landscape and Lawn Ser vice for a number of years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Sandy Plain Baptist Church, Tabor City. Survivors includc three sons, Jimmy Dale Wright of Lake Port, Fla., John Calvin Wright of Ever green, S.C., and Danny Mitchell Wright of Shallotte; a daughter, Margaret Linda Suggs of Evergreen, S.C.; a brother, Liston Wright of Thomasvillc; a sister. Ruby Fowler of Tabor; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. PATRICIA SIMS NEVILLE Patricia Sims Neville, 68, of Greensboro and formerly of South port, died May 21 at home. The funeral was May 23 in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Carrboro. THOMAS BRYANT Thomas Bryant of Northwest community, Leland, died May 20 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. The funeral was May 23 at Spring Green Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. LEOLA DAVIS Leola Davis, formerly of Nav assa, died May 17 in Baltimore, Md. The funeral was held May 23 in Baltimore. ROBERT WILLARD ROBBINS Robert Willard Robbins, 78, of SeaAire Estates, Supply, died May 22 at his home. The funeral was May 25 in Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, Shallotte, by the Rev. Steve Stout and the Rev. Wade Laughter. Burial was in Silent Grove Cemetery, Supply. Prior to his retirement Robbins was employed by the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad as an engineer. Guild Luncheon Set The Ladies Guild of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., will hold its June luncheon Friday, June 4. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., at which time officers will be installed. After Mass, a lunchcon will be held at the Dunes Club. Tickets arc on sale until June 1. Following the theme, "Women in White," members will model their own wedding gowns in a program coordinated by Tillie Fitzpatrick.
