Bolivia Auto Mechanic Pleads Guilty To Illegal Liquor Sales A Bolivia man charged with a to tal of 24 misdemeanors involving the possession and sale of non-tax paid liquor pleaded guilty to four charges in Brunswick County Dis trict Court last week and was given a pair of two-year suspended jail scntenccs. : James Adolph Williams, 51, of Albright Road, entered a negotiated plea of guilty to two counts of pos sessing and two counts of selling il | legal liquor, according to court records. The other 20 charges were dismissed as part of the plea bargain. Williams was arrested last Dc ccmbcr as part of a joint undercover operation by the Brunswick County Sheriff'! Department Alcoholic Beverages Control enforcement di vision and the N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement agency. Informants made several purchas es of up to four gallons of illegal liquor at the Adolph's Transmission Service garage Williams operates in Bolivia, court records show. In a raid on the garage last Dec. 31, agents seized several bottles par tially filled with illegal liquor, other bottles containing mixed alcoholic beverages and seven cans of beer. According to Brunswick ABC en forcement officer Mike Speck, the sheriff's department had "received several complaints of the continuing illegal sale of alcoholic beverages" at Williams' place of business dur ing the 12 months prior to his arrest. In addition to his suspended jail sentences, Williams was ordered to pay S122 restitution to the Bruns wick County Sheriff's Department and S206 court costs. He is not to possess alcohol for the purpose of sale and must submit to warranUcss searches. He was put on supervised probation for three years. District Court Judge David Wall presided over court Tuesday, while Judge Ola Lewis heard cases Mon day. Attorney Rick Green prosecut ed. Steve Allison Brown, misdemea nor larceny, N.C. Department of Corrections two years, suspended sentence five years, SI50 attorney fees, not violate any laws of the state, costs remitted, weapon to be returned to owner. Richard C. Campbell, improper equipment, S25 and costs. Anthony Canty, assault on a fe male, voluntarily dismissed, no plaintiff.
