Ash were married Saturday, June 12,
at 4 p.m. in First Presbyterian
The Rev. Keith Thompson per
formed the double-ring ceremony,
assisted by the Rev. Dan Norman.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Edgar Bourne Harris of
Shallouc. The groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Edwin
Williams of Ash.
The bride was given in marriage
by her parents and cscortcd by her
father. She wore a long white satin
sheath gown featuring an off-the
shouldcr neckline, long torso and
mermaid-effect skirt of tulle with re
embroidered Alencon lace. The
bodice and torso were intricately ap
pliqucd with Alencon lace encrusted
with seed pearls and irridcscent se
quins. A wide jeweled crown held
her fingertip veil of illusion with
pearl-studded pouf. She carried a
cascading bouquet of white bridal
roses and foliage.
Kathrynn Archer Harris, sister of
the bride, served as maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Joni Ball of High
Point, Tracy McCarson of Myrtle
Beach, S.C., Kim Merritt of
Wrightsville Beach, Sandra Owen of
Durham and Jennifer VanStcen of
Attendants wore ofT-the-shouldcr
mermaid style dresses of deep pur
ple crepe with satin skirting and
sashes and jewel-studded bows.
They carried bouquets of rubrum
lilies, pink roses and purple statice.
Honorary bridesmaids were Kim
McKcithan of Holden Beach,
Allison Rossi of Clemmons, Eliza
beth Smith of Eunice, La., and
Elizabeth Thomas of Shallottc.
The groom's father served as his
best man. Groomsmen were David
Babson, David Morse and Wes
King, all of Ash, Allen Hughes of
Hoffman Estates, III., and Scott
Street of Shallottc.
Ushers were Bill Ingram and Bob
Long, both of Ash.
Flower girls were Lauren Harris
and Lynnc Harris, cousins of the
bride from Brandenburg, Ky.
A reception for the couple was
held at the Wilmington Hilton.
After a wedding trip to Cancun,
Mexico, the ncwlyweds will make
their home at Ocean Isle Beach.

The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. James Richard Hewett of
Shallotte. She is the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Hewett of
Shallotte, James Curtis Hewett of
Whiteville, and the late Annie Belle
Hewett of Grissettown.
The groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Lane Chappell of Ash.
He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Chappell of Exum and Mr. and
Mrs. Rudolph Formyduval of Ash.
Wedding music was provided by
pianist and soloist Rodney Williams.
The bride, presented in marriage
by her parents and escorted by her
father, wore a formal, off-the-shoul
der gown of ivory silk with a fitted
bodice and short puff sleeves. It was
embellished with alencon lace ap
pliques with pearls and sequins. The
full skirt extended into a cathedral
train, enhanced by lace appliques, a
back bow, and a border of pearls and
sequins at the hemline. She carried a
cascade bouquet of peach roses,
stephanotis, baby's breath and green
Tina Hewett of Wilmington, sister
of the bride, was maid of honor. Jill
Hewett of Charlotte was her sister's
bridesmaid. The attendants wore
two-piece dresses of ivory, featuring
brocade bodices with embroidered
trim, sequins, pearls and scalloped
borders, and tea-length taffeta skirts
with crepe georgette overlays.
The groom chose his uncle, Don
nie Formyduval of Ash, as his best
man. Groomsmen were James R.
Hewett Jr. of Myrtle Beach, brother
of the bride; and Delane Chappell of
Ash, brother of the groom.
Ashton Hewett, wearing a tea
length dress of peach satin, served
as her mother's flower girl. Court
ney Formyduval, cousin of the
groom, was ring bearer.
Greta Evans, cousin of the bride,
attended the guest register and hand
ed out programs. The wedding was
directed by Linda Vamum.
Following the ceremony, the
bride's parents hosted a reception in
the fellowship hall of Zion Baptist
Church in Ash. The three-tier wed
ding cake was baked and decorated
by the bride's cousin, Gina Gore of
On the eve of the wedding, the
groom's parents hosted a rehearsal
dinner at the church.
Pre-wedding festivities included
showers hosted by Linda Chappell,
Tina and Jill Hewett, and co-work
ers from the Southeastern Dialysis
The bride is a graduate of Bruns
wick Community College and is
currently employed as a licensed
practical nurse by the Southeastern
Dialysis Center at New Hanover
Regional Medical Center.
The groom is a graduate of West
Brunswick High School and is em
ployed by Brunswick Farm Supply
