died June 20 in Doshcr Memorial
Hospital. Private memorial services
were to be held.
Mrs. Poe was born March 24.
1912. in Maryville. Missouri, and
moved here about 20 years ago from
Washington. D C.
She earned her bachelor's degree
in music from Northwest Missouri
University in Maryville and a mas
ter's degree in music education from
Columbia University in New York
City. For many years she taught mu
sic in public schools in Missouri and
Oklahoma, and conducted various
choirs in those two states.
Shortly after moving to Long
Beach. Mrs. Poe became founder
and director of music at Oak Island
Presbyterian Church and continued
as pianist and co-director of music at
the church for several years.
Survivors include her husband.
Roy Poe of the home: two sons.
David Poe of Crystal Lake, III., and
Michael Poe of Shrcveport, La.; and
five grandchildren.
