'Volunteers In Blue' Band Performs Fridav A military band concert will mark the start of the Fourth of July holi day weekend at Sunset "each. The 572nd Air Force Band. Vol unteers In Blue, will perform Friday. July 2. at II a.m. at the Sunset Beach Gazebo. Sponsored by the Sunset Beach Beautification Committee, the pro gram is open to the public at no charge. Based at McGhee-Tyson Air Base near Knoxville, Tenn.. the Volun teers In Blufe is the official band of the Tennessee Air National Guard. Its mission is to perform for military and civilian functions in support of community relations activities and Air Force and Air National Guard recruiting efforts. Its concert programs typically provide something lor everyone,"' a news release indicated, including music from the classics, military marches, jazz and contemporary American compositions. The award winng band has per formed for a wide variety of func tions that have included gubernatori al inauguration ceremonies. Fourth of July celebrations, and perfor mances in support of the Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy Blue Angels precision flying teams. Re cently the band completed its first overseas performance in support of the United States Ambassador of Jamaica. West Indies. . CHURCH ACTIviTiFS Bible Institute Comoleted The Rev. Anthony W. Clemmons was graduated June 1 1 from Falkland Bapt ist Bible Insti tute in Hender sonville with an associate's d- y egree in religion and church min istries. At the time if / his graduation, CLEMMONS Clemmons served as student body president. A 1983 graduate of South Bruns wick High School, he served as pas tor of Canetuck Baptist Church from 1985-88. From 1988 to the present, he has served as pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bolivia. He is also a member of "The Guiding Lights" gospel quartet. Clemmons and his wife Nancy live in Bolivia with their children Amanda and Michael. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Clem mons of Bolivia and is employed by R.D. White and Sons Inc. of Shal lotte. Bible School Set Ocean View Baptist Church of Ocean Isle Beach will hold vacation Bible school July 12-16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day. A carnival will be held registra tion day, July 10 from 9 a.m. until noon, at the church located on N.C. 179. Evening Service Cancelled Brunswick Islands Baptist Church will not hold its regularly scheduled evening services Sunday, July 4. Also, a date has not been set for the congregation to begin meeting at its new location on Pisgah Church Road. Finishing touches ar; being ap plied before obtaining a certificate of occupancy, said spokesman Douglas Hall. Once the building is approved by the county building in spections department, meetings will be moved to the new location. He is an Alabama native, who changed his name legally to Broken Oliver after he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, holds numerous degrees. The latest is a M.A. in Biblical Stu dies from Regent (CBN) University at Virginia Beach. He has served as minister of music and/or pastor of churches in Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. Since 1985 he has been pastor of Open Door Baptist Church in Morehead City, N.C. He has also taught English, speech, journalism, and Bible at various schools, served as a Christian School principal-administrator, and currently is chairman of Carteret County home Educators. He is president of the Carteret County Ministerial Association, a member of the board of directors for the Morehead City FGBMFI Chapter, and a Women's Aglow Advisor. Music plays a big part in the life of Broken Oliver and his family. He has recorded two albums of sacred music. He has traveled and ministered in 40 states and 11 foreign countries. His wife, Karen, and their five children will join him to lead praise and worship and provide special music at the meeting. The Olivers live in Morehead City, N.C.
