Council members are expected to discuss implementation and enforce ment of the Coastal Area Manage ment Act, hold four public hearings on zoning matters and discuss a pos sible spray irrigation site for a pro posed sanitary sewer system. C. Robert (Bob) Stroud Jr., Wilmington district manager of the N.C. Division of Coastal Manage ment, will discuss the CAMA pro gram with council members. The town's first CAMA land use plan was approved in July by the state Coastal Resources Commission. CAMA plans arc intended to be used by coastal towns to guide their future development. The first public hearing is on amendments to the zoning ordi nance, including a proposal to per mit Class A manufactured homes and homes in the commercial dis trict as a special use, and adding yard sales to the list of permitted us es in the commercial district. Council will also consider Ben E. Ward's request to change the front yard set back from 50 feet to 30 feet in the residential mobile home dis trict; a request from Kenneth E. Moore to rezone five parcels oi. Oak land Avenue from residential to com mercial; and a request from Clyde Dew for a special use permit to con struct an unattached two-car garage and storage building at 112 Holly Street, in the residential district. Animal control, the personnel policy, ihc naming of two streets in Westover subdivision and routine fi nancial matters are also on the agen da. This time, the moves arc expected to be short, a matter of weeks. Bill Turner, assistant superinten dent for auxiliary services, said Congressman Charlie Rose's office had advised him of the forthcoming grant. While he had included all 12 schools in a pre -application. Turner said the federal agency single out five schools ? Union, Bolivia and Waccamaw Elementary, Lincoln Primary and West Brunswick High ? as critical because of their high energy costs and aging sys tems. As part of the application process, he said, the school board will be re !
