Golf Tourney Raises $4500 Golfers helped raise approximate ly $4,500 to help pay the medical bills of a local infant at the Baby Brett Golf Tournament July 25 at The Gauntlet at St. James Plantation. Proceeds from the captain's choice event will be used to pay medical bills of Brett Flaccavento, who was born March 7 with a rare heart condition called transposition of the great artery. Brett, the son of Bob and Jill Flaccavento of Supply, visited Duke University Medical Center in Dur ham last week and is doing well, ac cording to his father. "We just want to thank everybody who participated and let them know we appreciate their prayers and sup port," Bob said. The Shallotte Junior Woman's Club sponsored the golf tournament, which attracted 26 teams. Winning the men's division with a score of 61 was the team of An thony Carr, Larry Harrelson, Mic hael Cox and Jeff Mintz. Betty Kibblehouse, Gloria Lucas, Dot Russo and Irene Crane won the women's division with a score of 73. Bill Marsh, Gere Dale, Lois Gia malva and Ginny Dorshimer took first place in the mixed division with a round of 59. Both golfers had a two-dav total of 151. Fhe annual tournament was played Saturday and Sunday. In the first flight, Marcus Thompson shot 1 60 for a one-stroke victory. Gene Loflin and Jerry Pratt tied for second place at 161. Ray Linder was the second flight winner with a two-day total of 166. Finishing lour shots back in second place was Bob Tompkins. In the third night. Hugh McCul lough led the field with a score of 182. Bill Pingo was second with 183. In other recent action at Brier wood, the team of Neal McCall, Jack Causer and Gene Cordisco shot 132 to win the Brierwood Men's Golf Association best ball tourna ment last Thursday.
