James Timothy Stanley, 19, of
Ash, died Sept. 7 in Shallotte.
The funeral was Sept. 10 in the
Inman Funeral Home Chapel, con
ducted by the Rev. George Speake.
Burial was in Smith Cemetery, Ash.
He was a native of Horry County,
S C., and the son of James Ervin
Stanley and Elizabeth Ann Cox.
Survivors include his father. Ervin
Stanley of Shallotte; his mother,
Elizabeth Ann Cox of Calabash; a
sister, Susan Stanley of Shallotte;
and his paternal grandfather, Tink
Stanley of Ash.
HERMINE BOERA ARNOLD
Hermine Boera Arnold. 101, of
Southport, died Sept. 7 in Dosher
Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service was conduct
ed Sept. 8 in Northwood Cemetery,
Southport, with the Rev. Robert
Childs officiating.
She was bom in New York City
on Dec. 27, 1891, the daughter of
the late Casimir and Hermine Jerrod
Boera. She moved here 73 years
ago. Previously she was employed
as an interpreter for Macy's Depart
ment Store. In Southport, she assist
ed Dosher Memorial Hospital and
various shipping lines with interpre
tation services. She was a charter
member of Live Oak Chapter No.
1 79, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include three sons,
Thomas Hoylc Dosher, Albert
Arthur Dosher and John Richard
Dosher. all of Southport; a daughter,
Hermine Hall of Harrells; 1 1 grand
children; and nine great-grandchil
dren.

MAULCIE WILLETTS MILLS
Maulcie Willetts Mills, 90, of
Winnabow died Sept. 8 in Eliza
bethtown Nursing Center.
The funeral was Sept. 11 in Zion
United Methodist Church, officiated
by the Rev. Billy Peele. Burial was
in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Mills was born in Brunswick
County on Feb. 22, 1903, the daugh
ter of the late George Franklin and
Mary Lavton Gray Willetts. She was
preceded in death bv her husband,
John H. Mills Sr.
She was a member of Zion United
Methodist Church at Town Creek
and was retired from Belk-Beery.
Survivors include a son, Frank
Mills of Valdosta, Ga.; a brother,
Roger Willetts of Williamsburg, Va.;
two sisters, Dorothy Cyphus and
Mrs. Lillian Thomas, both of Lake
Worth, Fla.; seven grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren.
BRYAN KEITH LEWIS
Bryan Keith Lewis, 30. of Wil
mington died Sept. 8 in Columbus
County Hospital, Whiteville as a re
sult of a highway accident.
The funeral was Sept. II in Mt.
Pisgah Baptist Church in Supply,
with the Rev. Texas Dale Holden
and the Rev. Merle Martin officiat
ing. Burial was in the Georgetown
Holden Cemetery, Supply.
Mr. Lewis was bom in Southport
on July 27, 1963, the son of John
James "Toby" Lewis of Longwood
and Mildred Royals Dickerson of
Supply. He was an avid Softball play
er. At the time of his death he was
employed by Federal Paper Board
Co. at its Armour Plant in Riegel
wood. He was preceded in death by a
half-brother, Shawn Briggs, and a
niece, Carol Ann Lewis.
Survivors in addition to his par
ents include his wife, Toni Fowler
Lewis of the home; maternal grand
mother, Linnie Royals of Supply; a
brother, James Craig Lewis of
Vamamtown; and two sisters, Lisa
Lewis Varnam of Vamamtown and
Kristi Lewis Cannon of Supply.
MARY BRISSON GEARHART
Mary Brisson Gearhart, 73, of
Route 1, Parkton, died Sept. 9 in
Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A graveside service was held
Sept. 12 in Parkton Cemetery, with
the Rev. Howard R. Lucas Jr. offici
ating.
She was born July 1, 1920, the
daughter of the late John Rubin and
Lula Canady Brisson. She was the
widow of John Henry Gearhart Sr.
Mrs. Gearhart was a homemaker,
a member of Parkton Baptist Church
and a graduate of Parkton High
School.
Survivors include two sons, Dan
iel H. Gearhart of Holden Beach and
John H. Gearhart Jr. of Hope Mills;
a daughter, Susan M. Gearhart of the
home; two sisters, Nadine Harrell of
Raeford and I.^rothy Hauisey of
Parkton; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two
brothers and a sister.
CRUMWELL SELLERS
Crumwell Sellers, 78, of Chad
bourn died Sept. 9 in The Brunswick
Hospital, Supply.
The funeral was Sept. 12 in Beav
erdam Freewill Baptist Church, with
the Rev. Jackie Godwin and the Rev.
Charles Dudley officiating. Burial
was in McPherson Cemetery in
Chadbourn.
A native of Columbus County, he
was the son of the late Bud and
Flora Jane McPherson Sellers.
Survivors include his wife, Mary
Edith Sellers; four daughters, Carol
Sellers Kelly of Calabash, Kaye Sel
lers Johnson and Sue Sellers Tyler,
both of Chadbourn, and Terry Sel
lers of Fair Bluff; three sons, Johnny
Sellers and Landis Sellers, both of
Chadbourn, and Jerry Sellers of Cla
rendon; two sisters, Eleverta John

rette of Clarkton; 12 grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM ALAN MINTZ
William Alan Mintz, 29, of Le
land, died Sept. 8.
A graveside memorial service
was held Sept. 14 at Farmers Chapel
Baptist Church Cemetery, with the
Rev. Dan Bennett officiating.
Mr. Mintz was born in New
Hanover County on March 26, 1964,
the son of Nancy Fay Holmes Mintz
and the late William M. Mintz.
He was a U.S. Army and National
Guard veteran and was a member of
Farmers Chapel Baptist Church.

Cardell Holden, 28, of Winnabow,
died Sept. 1 1 in Dosher Memorial
Hospital, Southport.

Sept. 17, at Christian Chapel AME

ily cemetery.
KENNETH GEORGE BEESTON
Kenneth George Beeston, 76, of
Chapel Hill and Holden Beach died
Sept. 12 at The Brunswick Hospital,
Supply.
A graveside service was to be
held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15,
in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
A native of Utica, N.Y., Mr. Bees
ton was a 1947 graduate of the Uni
versity of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill and a longtime resident of Cha
pel Hill. He was vice president of
Blue Shield Activities for N.C. Blue
Cross & Blue Shield for 36 years.
During World War II he served as a
B-26 navigator in the U.S. Army Air
Corps.
Survivors include his wife of 48
years, Christine H. Beeston of the
home; a son, Michael D. Beeston of
Mooresville; a daughter, Rebecca B.
Lenchek of Chapel Hill; a sister,
Maxine B. Sandison of Hawaii; and
two grandchildren.

Oct. 3, 1950, he was the son of
Liston James Joyner of Ocean Isle
Beach and the late Juanita Elder
Joyner.
