He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he worked with young people, and was the first president of the Caswell Dunes Homeowners' Association. For the past two years he had studied and taught principles of Attitudinal Healing to fellow individuals facing catastrophic illness. Survivors include his wife, Linda Parsons Shaddix of Caswell Beach; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. He received numer ous military commendations and medals while serving tow tours each in Germany and Vietnam and a tour in Korea and serving as a member of the U.S. Parachute Team, a Golden Knight and coach of the U.S. Parachute Team and West Point Parachute Team.
