Sept. 28 and 29, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Brunswick County Law Library. The library is located in the court house at the Brunswick County Government Center at Bolivia. The course is offered through the Brunswick Community College Continuing Education Department and will be taught by a representa tive of the Brunswick County Register of Deeds office. The course qualifies participants to take the North Carolina notary public licen sure examination. Registration will be at the first class meeting. The registration fee is $35. Marine Business Expo, Conference Slated Oct. 1 -2 l'he 1993 N.C. Marine Expo Trade Show and Conference will feature more than 60 marine indus try exhibit rs ttom around the coun try who piovide products and ser vices to more than 2,000 marine businesses in North Carolina. The event will take place Oct. 1-2 in the Wilmington Convention Cen ter. In addition to the trade show, there will be 20 seminars and half day workshops to help marine busi ness owners and employees market, manage and operate their business es. Oyster Festival site at the intersection of N.C. 904 and 1 79 near Sunset Beach have been transformed into the Jones-Byrd Pavilion near Sea Trail Plantation's J ones-Byrd Clubhouse. Surrounded by covered porches, the pavilion overlooks the Byrd Golf Course and will be used for exhibits, food functions and performances. The expansion, completed in early September, adds 6,500 square feet of meeting space to Sea Trail, bringing the resort's total meeting space to 14,000 square feet. BUSINESS BRIEFS New Hospice Nurse Joins Staff Evelyn King has joined the Brunswick County staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice as a registered nurse. She will be responsible for physi cal assessments, nursing care plan ning and symptom management for Hospice patients. King, formerly with the Hamilton Medical Center of Dalton, Ga., lives in Long Beach. Ix>wer Cape Fear Hospice pro vides a medically-directed program of care for patients with limited life expectancies in Bladen. Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender counties. Focusing on the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patients and their families, the program is designed to improve the quality of life during illness, death and be reavement. Employ ment Security Commission will dis cuss "Finding Qualified Employees" from 6:30 p.m. -7:45 p.m. Then from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., State Forestry Offering Seedlings For '94 Season The N.C. Division of Forest Re sources is accepting orders for forest tree seedlings for the 1994 planting season. The seedlings are available to arty North Carolina landowners. Many are grown from stock that has been genetically improved for better grow th and quality. Species available include im proved loblolly pine, Atlantic white cedar and bald cypress. Several hardwood species also are available, including sycamore, yellow poplar and black walnut. This year, for the first time, the division is offering a "wildlife pack" containing a mixture of seedlings to provide food for birds and animals. The division continues to offers its environmental packs of seedlings for landowners interested in planting the trees most common to their areas of the state. Educational packets containing loblolly pine and white pine seedlings are available for teacher. Most trees are available in large numbers only, such as loblolly pines, which will cost $34.50 per thousand for first-generation seed lings delivered. Landowners who want to plant only a few trees, or who want a vari ety of trees, may want to consider purchasing a wildlife pack for $35 or environmental pack at $30. Educational packs cost $7 for loblolly and $12 for white pine. The packs contain 100 assorted seedlings. Seedling order forms and a price list may be obtained from the divi sion, the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, the U.S. Agricultural Stabil ization and Conservation Service and the Cooperative Extension Service.
