Other top finishers included Terry Decker, 254, 565; Chris Chappell, 252, 639; Jimmy Robinson, 245, 576; Lee Harris, 236, 652; Eric Var nam, 213, 563; Kenny Holden, 209, 520; Steve Harris, 205, 557; Jimmy Pierce, 204, 544; Butch Lewis, 202, 488; and Jeff Sibbett. 200. 544. Monday Night Men Lee Harris had a 265 high game, Dennis Harpster rolled a 633 scratch series and Don Balint had a 701 handicap series to lead the Monday Night Men's Classic League this week at Brunswick Bowling Center. Runners-up in the top flight were Herman Thompson with gross 76 and Wash Dayton with net 68. Second flight winners were C.R. Teabo with gross 78 and Ed Jackson with net 64. Finishing second were Chuck Wilson with gross 85 and Fred Hall with net 66. In the third flight, low gross scores were posted by Bob Herre with 87 and Ed Hennessey with 89. Bob Greenwood had the low net of 63, followed by Hal Riebesehl with 64. Top finishers in the fourth flight included Alan Kletchka with gross 86 and Bill Seip with gross 90. Low net winners were Ed Wood with 61 and John Pape with 63. The Calabash Veterans will play this Friday at Ocean Isle Beach Golf Course. Show time is 7 a.m. for the better ball of twosome event. Brierwood Ninettes Judy Durham posted a net score of 18.18 to win the Brierwood Ninettes tournament last Friday. Golfers counted scores on par 4 holes only. Runners-up were Alene Sterner with 18.46 and Kay Allwein with 19.47. Durham and Sterner tied for low putts with 16 apiece. Marion Allen and Harriet Schuler tied for second with 18 putts. Making pars were Allwein at the fourth hole and Durham at the eighth and ninth holes. Brierwood Men Neal McCall, Bill Goldsberry and Dick Anzelone shot 129 to win the Brierwood Men's Golf Association best ball tournament last Thursday. Each group counted one ball on par 3 holes, two balls on par 4 holes and three balls on par 5 holes. The winning team was 23 under par and used a blind draw for its fourth score. Second place went to the team of Emile Vrydaghs, Hank Culp and Bill Allen with 134. Fred Williams, Hal Schuler and Jerry Smith were third with 137. On Sept. 20, the team of Jim Crosby, Charlie Stransky, Jack Causer and Bernie Anderson shot 125 to win a two best ball event at Brierwood. Straud Maerker, Odie Johnson, Jerry Wolff and Bob Wareheim placed second with 126. Finishing third with 128 were Barney Martin, Paul Keeley, Dick Anzelone and Bob Allwein. Carolina Shores Ladies Dot Meader edged Sue Greiner on a match of cards and won the first flight in the Carolina Shores Ladies Golf Association tournament last Thursday. Golfers counted scores on even numbered holes on the front nine and odd-numberfcd holes on the back nine. Meader and Greiner finished with net 32. In the second flight, Ellen Rose led the way with net 28. On a card match, Jackie Distler was second and Barb Brooks third with 30.5. Gerrie Burdick placed first in the third flight with net 28. She was fol lowed by Shirley Vazquez with 32. Fourth flight winners were Inky Remais with net 31, Carolyn D'Avanzo with 31.5 and Elaine Haddock with 34.5. Gladys Bowen, Ellen Rose and Sally Manifold tied for low putts with 31 each. Laura Paliwoda chipped in for birdie at the seventh hole. Manifold also chipped in at the seventh and birdied the eighth. Bowen had a chip-in at the 18th. Sea Trail Men The team of Stan Risch, Ed Hughes and Bob Erbach fired a 68 to win the Sea Trail Men's Golf Association captain's choice event last Tuesday on the Byrd course. Ray Washam, Bill Pike, Pete Crockett and Guy Moulton Finished second with a 71. Ron Schadle, Dick Zinser, Al Consalvi and Bill Jones placed third with 72. Closest-to-the-pin winners were Schadle at the second hole, Ed Stepanovich at the seventh, Winston Stephens at the 12th and Bill Morris at the 16th. Ruth's Renegades Members of the Ruth's Rene gades golf group competed in a crossover tournament last week at Bay Tree and Brierwood. Runners-up in the top flight in cluded Nancy Bouldin, Ethel Brown and Doris Dunfee with rounds of net 83. In the second flight. Margaret Wood had the low gross of 99. Shooting the low net rounds were Ruth Linder with 76 and Marge Harper with 80. Joan Cowie shot gross 101 to take tirst place in the third flight. Ginny Anzelone had the low net of 75, fol lowed by Margaret Pingo with 80. Carolina Shores Men Bill Teschler, Murray Palmer, Don Errickson and Bob Fyock shot 131 to win the Carolina Shores Men's Golf Association tournament last Saturday. Teams counted one low gross ball and one low net ball on each hole. Finishing two shots back in second place were George Balbach, Bruce Kibblehouse, Joe Baran and Bob l>ovaty. Placing third with 139 was the team of John Schwab, Art Searby, Rod Manifold and Pat Lupia. Schwab had an eagle at the 355 yard 11th hole, holing a sand wedge from 105 yards. He also came close to a hole in one at the 16th. where his tee shot finished 10 inches from the cup Closest-to-the-pin winners were John Crane at the third hole, Errick son at the eighth, Balbach at the 12th and Schwab at the 16th. Brick Landing Women Pauli Waddle fired a 93 to lead the first flight in the Brick Landing Plantation Women's Golf Associ ation event last Thursday. Alice Grossman was second with 95, and Marian Rhoads had low putts in the top flight with 29. In the second tlight, Martha Cul len placed first with a 95 and Sue Nelson was second with 104. Cullen had low putts with 31. Third flight winners were Betty Bonniol with 100 and Loraine Bab cock with 103. Bonniol also had low putts with 34. Carding birdies were Terry Ehlers at the second hole and Ruth Gardner at the 17th. June Beck had chip-ins at the sixth and 1 1th holes. Br/erwood Scramble Roy Havenga, Mike Williams, Joyce Thompson and Lois Martocci combined for a two-under-par 34 and won the nine-hole mixed scram ble last Thursday at Brierwood. Shores Scramble Keith Stanzel, Kevin Lawson, Carlos McAlister and Joe Shirley shot 59 to win the Murphy Con struction/Subway Subs Scramble last Tuesday at Carolina Shores. Finishing one stroke back in sec ond place was the team of Rick VanderVeer, Gary Mott, Fred Ed wards and Carl Dino. Placing third, also with 60, was the foursome of Ken Green, Marge Green, Bill Hoffman and Nate Yahner. Marvin Hull, Bill Marsh, Gere Dale and Rose Cordeiro took fourth place with a round of 61. Closest-to-the-pin winners were Ken Green at the third and eighth holes, Kevin Lawson at the 12th and Bill McDavit at the 16th.
