ARTHUR "BUTCH" LeCLERC
Arthur "Butch" LeClerc, 50, of
Southport died Sept. 28 at Dosher
Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services were conduct
ed Oct. 1 at Northwood Cemetery
with the Rev. Wayne Trexler offici
ating.
Mr. LeClerc was born Nov. 26,
1942, in Charlotte, a son of the late
Arthur B. LeClerc and Charlotte
LeClerc Jones. He moved to South
port from Charlotte in 1954. He was
a member of Southport Baptist
Church, an active member of the
Southport Booster Club, a member
of the Merchant Marine during the
Vietnam War, and worked as a river
pilot with Wilmington Cape Fear
Pilots Association.
Survivors include his wife, Darla
Placker LeClerc of the home; a son,
Michael Shane LeClerc of the home,
a daughter, Misty Ann LeClerc of
the home; stepparents Robert L. and
Bealuh Jones of Winston-Salem; a
brother. Vincent LeClerc of Wilm
ington; and three sisters. Sue Jones,
Mickey Hart and Mary Russ, all of
Southport.
Memorial contributions may be

iety or Southport Baptist Church

JAMES HENRY WEAVER
James Henry Weaver, 67, of Cala
bash died Wednesday, Sept. 29, at
his home.
Born in Rowan County on May
26, 1926, he was the son of the late
Ernest W. and Essie Smith Weaver.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a
member of the Plumbers and
Pipefitters Local 96 of Charlotte.
Mr. Weaver attended Bonaparte
Baptist Church of Calabash.
He is survived by his wife, Edith
Weaver of the home; two sons,
James Barry Weaver of Centre, Ala.,
and George Henry Weaver of East
Bend; a daughter, Debra Weaver
Millsaps of Stony Point; a brother,
Ernest Whitson Weaver Jr. of China
Grove; a sister, Katherine Louise
Weaver of Charlotte; and six grand
children.
Funeral services were held Oct. 2
at Bonaparte Baptist Church with
the Rev. Charles Glisson officiating.
Burial followed Oct. 4 at the Salis
bury National Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by
Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service.

MICHAEL C. WILSON
Michael Carl "Mike" Wilson, 36,
of Parker Road, Ash, died Monday,
Sept. 27.
Bom April 8, 1957 in Southport,
he was a son of Carl Edgar and Nel
lie Lovett Wilson of Longwood. He
was a grandson of the late Pink
Wilson and the late Fitzhugh Lovett.
Survivors include his wife, Jean
ine Evans Wilson; a daughter, Laur
ie Ann Penny of Ash; two brothers,
Muriel Wilson and wife Sandy and
Donald Wilson, all of Longwood;
his maternal grandmother, Carrie
Lovett of Shallotte; his paternal
grandmother Lucinda Wilson of
Longwood; a niece, Amanda Dawn
Wilson; and three nephews, Jeremy
Wilson, Christopher (Kippy) Wilson
and Joshua Wilson.
Funeral services were held Oct. 2
at Brunswick Funeral Service with
the Rev. Garland Long and the Rev.
Clarence Richardson officiating.
Burial was in the Myrtle Head
Cemetery of Ash.
GEORGE E. WHITE
George Edward While, 79, of Ash
died Wednesday, Sept. 29 in The
Brunswick Hospital after an illness.
Born Sept. 20, 1914 in Brunswick
County, he was a son of the late
William Judson and Hattie Simmons
White. He served with the 73rd
Station Hospital during World War
II. He was a retired fanner.
Survivors include his wife, Car
lene White of Ark, Va.; a son,
George White Jr. of Ark; a sister,
Etha White Piver of Hampstead;
five grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday at
Brunswick Funeral Service of Shal
lottc with the Rev. Dan Norman offi
ciating. Burial was in the Griffin
Cemetery, Ash.

nabow, died Sept. 28 at Dosher Me
morial Hospital.
Funeral services were Oct. 2 at
Kendall Chapel AME Church. Bur
ial was in Dark Branch Cemetery.

Lawrence Needham "Cotton"
Brown, 84, died Sept. 27 in Bruns
wick Cove Nursing Center of Le
land.
He was the son of the late Joseph
and Ella Justice Brown and the hus
band of the late Dorothy LaClair
Brown.
Services were held Sept. 29 at the
graveside in Greenlawn Memorial
Park by the Rev. Frank Hackworth.
Survivors include a son, Larry W.
Brown of Wilmington; a daughter,
Jean B. Moore of Lake Waccamaw;
sisters Gladys Odham and Lucille
Burnette, both of Wilmington; and
three grandchildren.

Elma Frances Surrett Pinkston
died Sept. 29 in Rowan Hospital in
Salisbury.
The funeral was held Oct. 2 in St.
Matthew's Episcopal Church, Salis
bury, with burial in the church
cemetery.
She was the widow of Charles
Everette Pinkston.
Survivors include two daughters,

Coley of China Grove; a sister, Mrs.
A.L. (Lena Mae) Pring of Salisbury;
two grandsons; one step-grandchild;

former resident of Henderson, died

tick, Ontario, Canada. He was an in
dustrial phychologist.

ents include his wife, Barbara Ann
Romeril Smith of the home; a son,
Lee Edward Tomkins of the home;
two daughters. Misty Lynn Tomkins
of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and
Tonja Ann Tomkins of Oakville,

to New York where she became a
successful model. It was on an air
plane coming to the United States
that she was witnessed to by Hal
Lindsey and became a Messianic
Jew.
Her husband, David, has minis
tered in meetings in North Carolina
and Virginia and "has seen many
people healed, delivered and saved
by God's power," said Aglow
