Betty Kibblehouse aced the 16th
hole to highlight the Carolina Shores
L-adies Golf Association crossover
tournament last Thursday.
First flight winners included
Dottie Meader with net 27, Sue
Greiner with 29 and Betty Goodwin
with 29.5.
Ruby V'anderburg led the second
flight with a round of 28.5. Runners
up were Kathy Deming with 30.5
and Doreen Spearin with 30.5.
Top finishers in the third flight in
cluded Isobel Sleight with 27,
Blanche Johnson w ith 28 and Louise
Oldman with 30.
Inky Remais shot net 27 to lead
the fourth flight. She was followed
by Carolyn D'Avanzo with 29.5 and
Use Bateman w ith 30.
Remais had low putts for the tour
nament with 28. She also had a chip
in at the second hole.
Also chipping in were Gloria
Lucas at the first hole. Vanderburg at
the sixth, Joan O'Neill and Kib
blehouse at the seventh. Ginnie Der
rickson at the eighth and Goodwin at
the ninth.
Carding birdies were Sally Man
ifold and Derrickson at the eighth,
Greiner at the 12th and Goodwin at
the 16th.
Brierwood Ladies
Hilda Mall shot gross 85 and
Joanna Lang had net 68 to lead the
first flight in the Brierwood Ladies
Golf Association tournament Tues
day.
Doris Dunfee had the second low
net in the top flight with 71. Ethel
Brown had low putts with 27.
In the second flight, Margaret
Wood had the low gross of 95.
Posting the low net scores were Pat
Wolff with 71 and Cathy Clemmons
with 72. Lois Beato and Wood tied
for low putts with 27.
Third flight winners were Shirley
Groff with gross 100. Mary Ah earn
with net 74 and Joan Cowie with net
76. Betty Neal and Ahearn tied for
low putts with 32 each.
Betty Blough had the low gross in
the fourth flight with 86. Ginny
Anzelone had the low net with 67,
followed by Evelyn Wuthrich with
73. Toni Kobos had low putts with
29.
Making birdies were Beato at the
first hole, Ruth Linder at the eighth
and Nancy Bouldin at the 17th.
Chip-ins were made by Beato at
the second, Maureen Farley at the
seventh. Kobos at the 16th and Jean
Lacerenza at the 1 8th.
Calabash Veterans

fired a 59 to win the Calabash
Veterans Golf Association tourna
ment last Friday at Ocean Isle Beach
Golf Course.

will host the second annual Veterans
Week Golf Tournament scheduled
Friday, Nov. 12.
Format for the tournament is bet

Men's, women's and mixed teams
are welcome to participate.
The tournament will begin at 8
a.m. with a shotgun start. The entry
fee of $70 per team pays for green
and cart fees, awards, food, refresh
ments and door prizes.
Calabash VFW Post 7288 will
host the post-tournament cere
monies. Proceeds will benefit the
Calabash VFW and American Leg
ion Post 503.

On Sept. 22, the Sea Trail Ladies
held an individual tournament and
counted scores on par 4 holes only.
Leading the first flight were Joan
Llewellyn with 41 and Caroline
Graves and Louisa Cilento with
rounds of 46.
Peggy Cooper won the second
llight with net 4<). Runners-up were
Jill Wilson with 41. Nancy Williams
with 47 and Heni Moulton with 47.

Joanne Slimmer led the fourth

Golfers dropped scores on their
two worst holes. Runners-up were

Dede Havenga was second with 18
putts, and Paterson finished with 19.

and low net honors last Thursday at
Ocean Isle Beach and Brierwood
golf courses.
On a match of cards, Ellen Erick
son, Edna O'Connell and Dee Gillan
were the top three finishers in the
low gross division at Ocean Isle. All
three women shot gross 65.
Erickson had the low net of 37,
followed by Gillan with 38. Martha
Mullis shot net 39 and placed third
on a match of cards over Jean Jann
and Martha Hannon.
At Brierwood, J aye Arlotta had
the low gross of 63 and low net of
38. Audrey Card was second in both
divisions with gross 65 and net 38.
Jane Taubel was third with 68 and
38.
In the Sept. 23 Nifty Niners tour
nament, top finishers at Brierwood
were Arlotta with gross 63, Taubel
with 64 and Nancy Bradbury with
68. Low net winners were Taubel
with 34, Arlotta with 38 and Brad
bury with 40.
At Ocean Isle, O'Connell led the
