Southport 'Street Person' Sent To Prison After Guiltv Plea A man listed on court dockets as a "street person" in Southport was sent to prison for two years after pleading guilty in Brunswick County District Court last week to a charge of second degree trespassing. After Robert Lee Edge, 32, plead ed guilty to the charge Wednesday (Sept. 29). Judge Jerry Jolly activat ed a two-year sentence that had been suspended last May after Edge pleaded guilty to charges of assault ing and resisting a police officer and first-degree trespass. Edge was given an additional 30 day sentence on last week's convic tion, to run at the same time as the two-year sentence. Judge David Wall presided over district court last Monday and Tuesday. Judge Jolly heard cases Wednesday. Assistant District Attorney Rick Green offered the state's evidence Monday and Tues day, while ADA Lillian Salcines prosecuted Wednesday's cases. Marie Jordan served as courtroom clerk. Other defendants who appeared in district court last week, with their charges, pleas and sentences in clude: Charles Barnes, assault by point ing a gun, resisting/obstructing pub lic officer, discharging shot gun in city limits, all voluntarily dismissed.
