Mrs. Creech was born in Johnston
County on Oct. 12, 1907, the daugh

Hardee. She was preceded in death
by her husband. Virgil A. Creech.
She was a member of Woodburn
Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, John
ny Vance Creech of Fredericksburg,
Va.. and V.A. Creech Jr. of Leland;
three sisters, Agnes Barbour of
Raleigh. Mira Dixon of Clinton and
Mildred Hoggard of Chesapeake,
Va.; two brothers. Morrison Hardee

Aldridge was born on May 11,
1913, in Southport. a son of the late
Minnie and John S. Aldridge. He
was a member of Pythagoras Lodge
No. 249 A.F. & A.M.. and was a for
mer member Southport alderman.
Survivors include his wife, Ella
Chadwick Aldridge of the home; a
son. Charles Phillip Aldridge Jr. of
Southport; and two sisters. Mamie
Oliver and Mildred Ludnam, both of
Southport.

Rev. Dwarka Ramphal and the Rev.
Maurice Milligan officiating. Burial
will be in the church cemetery.
Born in Randolph County on Jan.
14, 1918, he was a son of the late
Samuel G. and Annie Lou Etta
Lanier Ferguson. He was a member
of Ocean View Pentecostal Freewill
Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Retha
Spencer Ferguson; four sons, Ray
mond Ferguson and Jerry Ferguson,
both of Supply, Fred Ferguson of
Wilmington and Larry Ferguson of
Supply; a daughter, Wanda Cal
ender of Shallotte; a brother, Ed
ward Earl Ferguson of Wilmington;
16 grandchildren; and eight great
grandchildren.
The family was to receive friends
Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30
p.m. at Brunswick Funeral Service

Second Local Choir Festival Set Oct. 24
The Second Annual Ecumenical
Choir Festival will be held Sunday,
Oct. 24, at 4 p.m. at Shallotte Pres
byterian Church.
Choir members from Brunswick
Charge United Methodist, Calabash
Presbyterian, Little River United
Methodist, Pleasant Grove Baptist,
St. Luke Lutheran, Seaside United
Methodist and the host church will
participate.
Three massed choir anthems will
be directed by Marjorie Crissman,
director of music at Seaside United
Methodist, and accompanied by
Connie Thomas. Little River UMC,
and Gerri Parsons, St. Luke
Lutheran. Patti Jordan will direct
"Benediction," dedicated to her by
the composers. Individual choirs
will present anthems relating to the
church year.
Organ accompaniment during the
service will be provided by Janie
King of the host church and Dr.
William Knox of Wilm. and Bethel
United Methodist Church. A piano
and organ duet will be performed by
Ruth Daniel and Sue Sellers.
Instrumental accopaniments will
be played by Heather Hilton, flutist,
and a brass quartet made up of Brian
Chestnut, Craig Morris, John Clark
and Doug Hewett. The students are
members of the West Brunswick
High School band.
The public is invited.

Church Dedicated
More than 30() volunteers re
turned to Brunswick Islands Baptist
Church to see the finished church
they helped build and to join in its
dedication.
Two dedication services on Oct.
16 and 17 were needed to accommo
date the volunteers. More than 500
people helped build the church they
refer to as the "Miracle on the Hill."
A fellowship fish fry was held on
the church grounds Saturday, despite
grey skies and occasional showers.
The rain held off long enough for
the group to enjoy the meal and fel
lowship.
The church's first revival will
take place Oct. 31 to Nov. 3. Pastor
Marion Powell, who worked on the
church building project this past
summer, will conduct the services.
