Trojans Look FRIDAY NIGHT PREVIEW To Rebound Against Lumberton Pirates BY DOUG RUTTER West Brunswick's football team, coming off its first loss in seven weeks, looks to get back on the win ning track Friday night with a non conference game against the visiting Lumberton Pirates.. The Trojans suffered a 7-6 loss to Waccamaw Conference foe West Columbus last week, a loss that may have cost them a chance at winning the conference championship. "It's was a tough loss for us but we have the character to get up for this Lumberton game," West Bruns wick Coach Jim Brett said Monday. "We'll get over it." This week's contest will not count in the official standings because it is an endowment game, a scrimmage that teams are allowed to play in lieu of the open date in their schedules. Endowment games also help raise funds for the N.C. High School Ath letic Association. Half of the money collected at the game goes to the high school league, and the schools share the rest. Although the game won't count on cither team's record. Brett said he doesn't plan to approach it different ly than any other game. The game is still important for West Brunswick as it tries to re bound from the disappointing loss at West Columbus and prepare for the final regular-season game Nov. 5 at South Brunswick. The Trojans are 4-1 in the Wacca maw 2 A7 3 A Conference and 6-3 overall. Lumberton, which lost 21 13 to Pinecrest last week, is 1-4 in the Southeastern 4A Conference and 2-7 overall.
